Not a big fan of the personal attack generally, but if you are gonna have one, Non's was as good as it gets. I'm not sure if it even was one, which is especially awesome when I reflect upon the content.

...And it's not that I agree with him as regards Twebdonny- I honestly had never noticed "when" he posts.

It was just plain, flat funny... And I needed a laugh.

+1 Non, lol

Again, not on twebdonny in any way.

I liked it better when we had Ryan Grant.

I'm hoping, (stretch hope) that Starks comes in and makes us all forget Ryan Grant.

I think that's true for the rest of us. I haven't liked Ryan Grant and in some ways actually preferred Jackson start over Grant. I could have been more wrong! Now I'm just hoping B-jack gets replaced by ANYONE else.

All this "we don't need a running game" crap is just that - crap.

Of course we need a running game. One dimensional teams don't win consistently. We will face teams with good secondaries. We will play in rain and snow and high winds. We will need to run the ball effectively to protect leads in the 4th quarter. We will need the threat of an effective running game to keep opposing defenses from teeing off on our star QB.

I hate to say it, but I'm halfway onto the Marshawn Lynch bandwagon. I have no faith in any RB already on the roster.

The only knock that can be said about the Packers running attack is that it takes awhile to get in gear. To say it doesn't come on and especially when the weather does get bad is not accurate.

Every year the "running game sucks" threads come out. Not saying it's not true. A few years ago we REALLY sucked early as in dead last for awhile BUT the second half was not the same and in the past few years we have ended with reasonably good numbers for a prolific passing offense.

Past history shows it's a prolific passing attack that wins the day when it comes to success and SB's. Passing and a good D. You HAVE to have both to win it all. Last year Indy made it and they finished DEAD LAST in rushing O. So even REALLY BAD running attacks can overcome.

A good rushing offense to compliment a prolific passing game would be fantastic but if you look through the records not many teams obtain it.

Does our run game need to improve? Yes. Will it? If history repeats itself yes. Like I say same thread different year but our run numbers in the end are not what keeps us from the prize and actually have been above most of the other really good passing teams.

IMHO no team has ever won the Super Bowl without a well balanced running/passing game

You need a running game that CAN pick up yards, a threat if you will. You don't need 70+ yards from the back, but when you need to keep the defense honest, that's when you "need" the running game.

Oh geez. People are still going to argue this crap?

Look, passing game opens up running game. This has been proven time and time again. Of the 10 SB winners from the past 10 years, half had good running games. Half had runners that got free yards because the opponents were so scared of the pass.

You don't want me to whip out the stat book again, do you?

UH, YES WE DO NEED A RUNNING GAME.

It's for Aaron Rodgers' sake. Do you want the defense to play the pass every down? If they do, we lose. I don't care how many vertical weapons we have. If you're grossly obvious, you're going to lose.

Not my point.

My point is the passing game will get our runners free yards. Passing game opens up a running game. This has been proven over and over again since Bill Walsh's Niners in the early 80s.

Not singling you out Blue, but the others I have argued with this over and over again. That's why I'm sick of saying it.

And yes, the occasional hand off helps Rodgers.

Let's not forget the Air Coryell's Chargers as well had mediocre RBs who got a lot of yardage just because the team was expecting a pass and suddenly a run happened.

Same thing with last year's Saints. This may ruffle a few people's feathers here but any of those top 3 RBs the Saints had wouldn't be starters on half of the NFL's teams. Ryan Grant does circles around any of them. They won the SB last year.

Thirty years ago this might of been the case, but the passing game and defense is where championships are now made. The Colts had the worse running game in football last season and made the Super Bowl.

The Steelers and Cardinals running games ranked 23rd and yes 32nd respectively when they played for the Super Bowl.

Running game just needs to be below average if that at all. Furthermore, it's more about attempts than it is production. If you show a willingness to run the ball, defenses will bite on play fakes.

Perfectly said, attempts matter and so far we dont even fake a desire to run very much.
