I had the crap scared out of me yesterday. Missed the mailman, and there was a note saying we had a certified letter from the landlord. Of course, with what we have been going through the last several months, I immediatly thought the worst. I was figuring we were getting kicked out again. My blood pressure, had a doctor taken it at that time, would have blown out the machine, i'm sure. I had to wait a half hour to go to the post office to get it.
I told my wife, and she was "Whatever it is, i'm not worried about it." (Did i mention that her doctor put her on some new meds for her back, which has made her so that i could hit her over the head with a hammer and she'd say "No big deal".)
So i went, opened it up, shaking......it was a note from the landlady saying "I hope this finds you both well. We have an address change, so you need to mail your rent check to (whatever it is) from now on." That was it.......wasted a darn near heart attack for nothing!

Oh jeez! When I read the thread title my stomach dropped, and Ihad the same thought you did. Glad it's all OK! Too bad you had to use one of your nine lives on a false alarm though!

That's my guess. To make sure we got it.
I guess my panic wan't totally wasted. The jerk living upstairs is being a, well, JERK.
My wife works from 6pm to 6am. When they guy comes home, he slams doors and has NO consideration. I TRIED talking to him, but you can't talk to this pot head. He litterally slammed the door in my face. Just a 100% ass hole.
Called the landlord. Landlord talked to the guy, and of course the jerk denied everything. And of course the landlord believed him.
Why wouldn't he? He's just as much of a liar as the pot head.
So, i don't know what to do. My blood pressure is through the roof. Having chest pains.
I can't live like this through the winter.

My wife used to work mids (12am-8am) and we had the same issue everywhere we lived. Of course, she's hot and has the temper of a rabid bobcat, so her little knocks on their doors always seemed to be pretty effective. :lol: It's unfortunately something that comes with working those shifts. You can't let it stress you out so much. I'm sure your wife would rather have her sleep interrupted than you in the hospital.

I don't know why you have such awful luck talking with the neighbors and the landlord. Maybe you need to examine your approach. Also, do you have a recording device that could serve to collect "proof" of the noise they make?

We try every approach. Being nice always seems to get me stepped on. And when the jerk won't even TALK to you, what do you do?
And the landlord has straight out LIED to us, so how do you deal with that?
He told us when we moved in the pot head was going to be moving out by August 1st. Now we found out that never was true.
He just wants the money, and doesn't give a damn what happens.
If we had somewhere we could move to right now, i'd go.
But of course we signed a lease that says we can't move out between october and i believe may. So we are royally screwed i guess.
So it will be a LONG winter. If i last that long, that is.
