There I agree.. I wouldn't vote him for such an award either.

But that doesn't mean he shouldn't be entitled to play and earn his share of the NFL employment money.

If a team wants him to play for them, and is willing to pay for his services.. IMO, he should be allowed to play.

Vick had an amazing game last night. And, apparently, he's looked pretty good all season.

And I'm all in favor of "second chances." If the NFL wants to treat him as "having learned his lesson," that's their choice.

But I have to ask: would they have given him that second chance if he didn't have that star power. Would they all be as convinced of his "reformed nature" if he weren't a star? I think not.

Personally, I have to say I remain skeptical that he has "changed." Nothing he has said in his carefully crafted public language says anything to me other than I wish I could afford that kind of PR people. I still wouldn't trust my dog within ten miles of the guy, and I wouldn't associate with him.

I'm not particularly proud of feeling this way. I've been raised on the virtues of forgiveness and, as I said, I believe in second chances.

But it takes more to convince me that a slug has morphed into a prince than spending time behind bars.

Seems to me he has already been forgiven. He's playing isn't he? But if someone wants to sell that he is changed man, I'm not buying any of it.

See this is where I agree, but don't see how that relates to allowing him to continue his playing career; albeit under different terms and/or conditions other players do.

I guarantee, if you spent some time with pro athletes, Hollywood stars or politicians.... you wouldn't let a good percentage of them near your dog either.

Doesn't change the fact that he paid for his sins, has met the conditions set forth by the NFL in changing his life and to this point hasn't provided a just cause to change that status.

Do I believe he has changed.. probably not.... but has his behavior changed.. apparently. But I agree.. I probably am not inviting him into my house just because the NFL says he is good or changed..

This little exchange was started because someone stated he shouldn't be allowed to play.. there I disagree.

But to honor, worship or idolize the man.. no I agree.. I am not buying in without knowing him on a personal level.. and I can guarantee.. that isn't happening.. as I don't see him wandering to North Central Wisconsin anytime soon. 😉

thanks for completely missing my point. i was saying - why should a guy in the nfl or other pro sports be given a free pass & lauded as wonderful when the average guy makes one mistake & he's screwed for the rest of his life? sheesh!
just for the record, i find ray lewis even MORE sickening! i didn't mention his name cuz we were talkin about vick.

yes vick has 'paid' for it & is coming back from it - that's all fine well & good but this guy will be some kids 'role model'. is that really ok? cuz to me it's kinda not.

18 months in prison. Bankruptcy. Ruined reputation. Loss of FREEDOM.

Free pass my ass.

Vick had to fight his way back, he had to prove himself and has to do on a regularly basis. One screw up, he's done for. Don't think that teams don't considerate that when they are ready to pony up a contract. If he's staying steady with his maturing process, he'll be fine.

Role Models.
I hate this, absolutely hate this comment. Athletes are NOT role models and if they are lauded or if kids want to be them, its OUR job as parents to EDUCATE them on said "role model". If my daughter were to say she wanted to be like Michael Vick, I'd educate her on who he was, what he did, who he's trying to be and the punishment he served. Vick can be used as a POSITIVE role model, if parents are responsible.

i said he paid his debt to society but if you honestly think i should feel sorry for this guy, it's just not gonna happen. free pass - hell yes! dude is making money, has a job, & is being set up as a hero by some people. all because he can play a damn game. how many other felons can say that? how many other felons can't catch a break, aren't even given the slightest chance, & are turned away from job after job? and how many of those felons return to prison because they weren't afforded an opportunity?

the role model deal i find kinda funny. seriously - favre was a hero of mine & i'm a f'in adult with all the capabilities to make the decision on my own & look how much i f'd that up! even when i've said in the past i hated favre, a part of me still felt a certain respect for him - now, even that's gone.

you can put lipstick on a pig all you want but it's still a damn pig.

we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

And Zero, no he hasn't paid his debt. How much time do the hillbilly boys get when they get busted for running dogrings? Mike Tyson spent more time in prison for doing a groupie.
