He's highly talented maybe not as talented as Finley but hes a different style. He has great hands and im actually surprised he isnt getting much playing time. I think he will be a very solid duo with Finley next year.

Ehhhh? How do we know this? Quarlz hasn't proven a damn thing s'far as I'm concerned. Not saying I doubt him, just saying he hasn't done anything to prove to me that I shouldn't doubt him either.

Of course he hasn't proven anything. He's a raw rookie who hasn't yet gotten a lot of playing time. The point of the thread is that Quarless is a player who hasn't done much yet but could emerge toward the end of the season. I suppose nyrpack could've started a thread predicting that Greg Jennings would play big down the stretch, but that wouldn't have been very interesting.

The reasons for Quarless maybe emerging are that he had a great college career at a good football school, he has shown some skills as a rookie, he is still learning the game, and he is part of an offense with a great QB that has a huge void at TE that needs to be filled.

Felipe said that Quarless has dropped "quite a few easy passes" this year. The only drop I remember was a difficult pass in the Family Night scrimmage, then there was the fake field goal where he slipped. I can't remember him dropping any passes at all in the regular season, and I would be surprised if he had more than one or two drops.

He has dropped two sure-fire TDs this year. I think one was during that losing streak we had (maybe Bears?). I can't specifically remember what game the other one happened in.

I'm not sure if A-Rod has complete trust in Quarless yet. Maybe that explains his lack of opportunities.

Quarless missed the fake FG pass. It was a deep pass and if he caught it, his momentum would have taken him out of bounds. I don't remember any other miss that was close to being a TD.

Yes, I remember now: He dropped a would-be TD pass against the Bears. I think that was an easy one. It was kind of forgotten (except by the fantasy geeks) because Rodgers scored a play or two later on a scramble.

You could also be thinking of the one he dropped against the Vikings that was ruled a TD but would not have held up had it been reviewed. I remember that one, but I wasn't counting it against him. It wasn't exactly an easy catch anyway.

So yes, there are doubts about his hands, but I will still say this: Receivers drop passes sometimes--especially rookies. I wouldn't say that the drops are a red flag at this point. And he has made some nice catches.

P.S. I googled "Andrew Quarless dropped pass" and found several references to the one in the Bears game, but no others.

Two dropped passes and he's labeled bad hands? What's that make Donald Driver, Greg Jennings for that matter? lol

I know it. Lots of fans are real quick to label a young player as having bad hands after just one or two drops. It happens with fumbles too.

You could be on to something, nyrpack. Quarless started and caught all three passes that were thrown to him, while Donald Lee was a healthy scratch.

Watching the Finley/Quarles show in the future will be fun but not having Finley right now and down the stretch reeeeealy hurts. They can't guard him when he moves outside and it also opens everybody else up.

Sure we miss Grant with the run game struggling but not having Finley out there is really the kicker that I think has prevented us from getter over the top in these close games.

If you don't think so just ask "how many red-zone TD's would he have by now?" The guys a difference maker. Nothing against Quarles but the threat Finley brings into every pattern that you don't get out of Quarles is huge.

Finley had problems catching balls too. he ran bad routes and made mental mistakes. Quarless is a very talented TE who DOES have good hands and speed.

Quarles is just fine, just needs more opportunity. We are going to have one scary good double tight end set next year. Double tight ends, plus Jones, Jordy, and Jennings.

To quote Mr. Miaga - "If done properly, no can defense."
