+1 for Illy!!!
Wow.....civillians killed in a war. STOP THE PRESSES!
Why does the government think they have to cover up when this stuff happens in a war? Uh....maybe because most of the people don't really want to know the horrors of war.
And yes, it happens in EVERY war, by EVERY country involved in every war.
Is it sad? Yes. Is it really news? Only to those that had their heads in the sand all along. It's war. People that were not targeted will die.
You can't avoid that totally.
There are countries that put their military targets in civillian areas to try to keep them from being shelled. That happens too. Then when some civillians die because of it, they can point out how horrible the people that dropped the bombs are.
We bombed Japan in WW2. Twice. It ended WW2. Who knows how many more Americans would have died had we not taken that horrible step.
How many civillians died at Pearl Harbor? I bet there were some.

On a related note, in my German class today, a number of us were discussing the fact that anyone who has spent time in Germany quickly realizes that Germans enjoy an amazing amount of true freedom on the street (where it counts) and that the United States has without question become a police state by comparison.

Yeah, and look what they get with their "amazing" freedom. This looks like its in Knautnaundorf near Leipzig (SW of Berlin.) Here, you see the conductor just close the window and take this shit. Probably b/c he knew there were no cops around who'd have his back.

I've had my own experience with German police and they were assholes....because we were American. My friend "supposedly" ran a red light and they pulled us over with guns drawn yelling at us "aus de car" or "get out of the car." Yeah, that is tolerant and respectful <insert intended sarcasm>. I'm w/4PackGirl, there are assholes in every profession (and country). Germany is not immune.

What part of Germany were you in? Those of us from my university who've studied abroad in Germany have had absolutely no problems with the police but found them unfailingly respectful and polite.

It's not so much where I was but the point of the comment. Unprovoked by anything but the perception that we ran a red light, they pulled us over with guns drawn yelling. I lived in Germany for 3 years and I enjoyed it. However, it has its problems just like everywhere else.

Your position was that cops in the US are assholes and they are tolerant in Germany. Many years ago, my old man was pulled over in the US on his bike doing 90+ driving cross country back to see his wife and family. He'd been away from us over 6 months while he finished some business. The cop, hearing this, let him go with a verbal warning to make sure he drives safe enough to see those kids and wife. That was tolerant, polite and compassionate.

I would submit that 4PackGirl's comment is closer to the truth. In every profession and nation, there are assholes and there are nice guys. You live someplace for a short time and only meet nice folks and you come away with a good impression. You live in the US for a lifetime and you meet some assholes along the way and you forget how nice the other folks are.

dfosterf (8h) : We do have good depth at running back imo. Still so frustrating. Bitching about it is a futile excercise, which I plan to do anyway.

dfosterf (13-Aug) : a lower back injury
dfosterf (13-Aug) : Doubs says he's "fine" after injury scare. Some reported it as z
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : With LVN that is; need to see what happens in the next practice
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : beast, reading about what happened, it sounded like one of those "two guys collide and are moving slow afterwards" type of deals
beast (12-Aug) : I believe Musgrave has been injured every single season since at least a Sophomore in highschool
packerfanoutwest (12-Aug) : Matt LaFleur: “Highly unlikely” Jordan Love plays more this preseason
dfosterf (12-Aug) : Doubs, Savion Williams, LVN, Musgrave all banged up to one degree or another, missing one here I forget

Zero2Cool (9-Aug) : Woo-hoo
TheKanataThrilla (9-Aug) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
