How about.. through 12 games we have matched our defensive TD number from last season.

The Packers remain far and away the most penalized team in the NFL, with only the Dallas Cowboys coming anywhere close.

I don't know where you got this but it's way off.

The Packers have been penalized 63 times for 521 yards. The RAIDERS have been Penalized 115 times for over 900 yards and leads the league not us.

We are like 6th best in the league. If it weren't for the complete meltdown in Chicago we would probably be in the top 3 LOWEST penalized teams.

You are exactly correct. I clicked on the link I posted above and it turns out that it was for 2008 statistics. I have no idea how that happened. That means my entire post is wrong. I'll have to edit it after class.

What's with 2008? It seems like all your Packer news stories/stats are from 2008. You stuck in a time warp?

So his sacks have gotten lowered doesn't mean his play is bad,he is freeing up other players to make sacks as well ala Zombo,Jenkins,Raji,Bishop, etc.
Matthews is a great tackler,he's also gotten better in coverage.Just because he's not getting the stats doesn't mean he's playing bad.

He's making the players around him better Zombo has been great the last few games, jenkins stats have got even better hope he comes back this week or soon.

As others have said, Matthews is still making a difference. It takes at least two players to sack a QB in most cases, and against the 49ers, Matthews contributed to at least two sacks.

I would agree that he is not quite the dynamic player that he was earlier in the season, though, probably because of the shin injury, and I also wonder if he is holding something back for fear of pulling the hamstring again, as Ryan Grant did in 2008.

Hopefully Matthews is not just wearing down. I worry about that a little because he plays with a lot of energy and he is going up against 320 pounders on a regular basis. KGB had a tendency to wear down late in the season after he became a full-time starter.

Mathews is simply getting game-planned because he is a force and blocking him with one guy would be a mistake most teams now won't risk.
Fortunately, the rest of the D has made this a "pick your poison" proposition.

The Packers are doing extremely well in most all of the stats I look at as key.

1) Points scored
2) Points allowed
3) Sacks
4) Redzone scoring %
5) Turnovers
6) Turnovers created
7) Points allowed after a turnover
8) Penalties
9) 3rd down conversion %

#1 and #2 are a given and #'s 3 thru 8 are big play indicators or difference makers between winning and losing. I would be willing to bet having not run these that if you give a value from 1 to 32 on these stats with the lowest number the best we finish #1 or #2.

Rodgers is hot. If we can continue to keep the penalties down and the defense plays like it has been we will be there in the end.
