Considering we we're facing the Patriots I would of went for the killer blow.

All tho I think the biggest mistake of the coaching yesterday was after the FG that the Patriots got. We went 3 pass plays / 3 and out without wasting any clock time when we we're having an excellent run game yesterday.

If we had run 3 times would of had taken more clock time and even could of gave us a good chance for a play action.

Was anyone else screaming at the TV to go for it? I was. I thought that was horrible playcalling during that series and didn't see a FG as a good option there.

If we were up by 6, I would have took the FG with no problem but only being up 3 I didn't see any advantage not going for the TD to go up 10.

When you're inside the 10... I always think about going for it on 4th... so 4th and 1 yeah I would of wanted to go for it but I knew a FG was coming...

Calling the same play two plays in a row was a bad idea...

But if you missed on the 4th down then you get into fg range and kick one though you'd only be ahead 6 points... if you kicked it both times and made it though you'd have 9 points...

One of those you can be damned if you do... damned if you don't moves...

Also I remember being upset they didn't go for it on 4th down and 2 on the 2 against the Jets... you know what? They got 9 points that game... and that extra FG would of stopped a TD from winning it if they didn't make it.

And later another team was in the same spot as the Packers were... and went for it and misses it... only for the other team to take it down the field and get points.

I would've gone for it.

Worst case scenario, the Patriots get the ball back inside their own five.

We were harassing Tom Brady and their running game all day, and the odds of a safety are significantly higher. When your defense is working to get a safety, they're going to play more hungry and aggressive.

And if Tom Brady has time to throw, the only way that happens is if the line holds, and if that holding occurs in the endzone? Safety.

Not to mention a safety gets you the ball back in good field position. When your kicker is the inconsistent Mason Crosby and the holder is the QB who you've been playing the whole game, it seems like going for it is the better risk.

They made the right call to take the points. Here's why. We had our backup QB in, and points are hard to come by. Had our "special" (and i mean that) teams not let a lineman run 71 yards, maybe our D stops them and we end up winning. Pin the loss on THEM. Giving Tom Brady a 5 yard field is giving them a free 7 points.

Points were hard to come by? He threw for 3 touchdowns and could have had a 4th. The rungame was dominant the entire day until they mysteriously went away from it after the Patriots scored.

The problem with this team is that if they're even 3 points down, they start playing scared, and if they're even 3 points up, they start playing lax. It's infuriating.

After giving this thread some time to marinate in my mind, I still say it was the complete wrong call.

We went with an onsides kick on the opening kickoff! That right there showed we had to take some chances if we were going to win. While I do agree that the playcalling was beyond awful on this particular series we needed the 7 (and I'm not just saying that because we lost).

Can anyone here honestly tell me that they thought our defense would hold the Pats to 6 or less points with the time remaining? No way. We needed to take that chance. We got all the way down to the 1, with our backup QB in, who knows when you are going to get THAT chance again. You could kick a FG anywhere inside the 30, but HAVING THE BALL THAT DEEP WITH A CHANCE TO GO UP 10 PTS ON THE HOTTEST TEAM IN FOOTBALL IS A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY WASTED

Not to mention Brady would have a 99-yard field against a defense that was kicking his ass.

I will agree as it's basically a no brainer here. Obviously, with how well the Patriots are as a team you take the points, period. There's no real question to that.

I do question the play calling on the goal line there. Maybe this is predictable, but I was hoping to see a roll out with an option for a TE on a slant or dump off to a back or maybe he takes it in himself. I think a rollout gives the offense several opportunities to attack.

At that position in the game, you don't go for it on fourth unless your defense is stopping their offense. Ours wasn't.
