A good laugh, even if you are NOT over 50!

When I bought my Blackberry I thought about the 30-year business I ran with 1800 employees, all without a cell phone that plays music, takes videos, pictures and communicates with Facebook and Twitter. I signed up under duress for Twitter and Facebook, so my seven kids, their spouses, 13 grandkids and 2 great grand kids could communicate with me in the modern way. I figured I could handle something as simple as Twitter with only 140 characters of space.

That was before one of my grandkids hooked me up for Tweeter, Tweetree, Twhirl, Twitterfon, Tweetie and Twittererific, Tweetdeck, Twitpix and something that sends every message to my cell phone and every other program within the texting world.

My phone was beeping every three minutes with the details of everything except the bowel movements of the entire next generation. I am not ready to live like this. I keep my cell phone in the garage in my golf bag.

The kids bought me a GPS for my last birthday because they say I get lost every now and then going over to the grocery store or library. I keep that in a box under my tool bench with the Blue tooth [it's red] phone I am supposed to use when I drive. I wore it once and was standing in line at Barnes and Noble talking to my wife and everyone in the nearest 50 yards was glaring at me. I had to take my hearing aid out to use it, and I got a little loud.

I mean the GPS looked pretty smart on my dash board, but the lady inside that gadget was the most annoying, rudest person I had run into in a long time.

Every 10 minutes, she would sarcastically say, "Re-calc-ul-ating." You would think that she could be nicer. It was like she could barely tolerate me. She would let go with a deep sigh and then tell me to make a U-turn at the next light. Then if I made a right turn instead-well, it was not a good relationship.

When I get really lost now, I call my wife and tell her the name of the cross streets and while she is starting to develop the same tone as Gypsy, the GPS lady, at least she loves me.

To be perfectly frank, I am still trying
to learn how to use the cordless phones in our house. We have had them for 4 years, but I still haven't figured out how I can lose three phones all at once and have run around digging under chair cushions and checking bathrooms and the dirty laundry baskets when the phone rings.

The world is just getting too complex for me. They even mess me up every time I go to the grocery store. You would think they could settle on something themselves but this sudden "Paper or Plastic?" every time I check out just knocks me for a loop. I bought some of those cloth reusable bags to avoid looking confused, but I never remember to take them in with me.

Now I toss it back to them. When they ask me, "Paper or Plastic?" I just say, "Doesn't matter to me. I am bi-sacksual." Then it's their turn to stare at me with a blank look.

I was recently asked if I tweet. I answered, No, but I do toot a lot."

Exactly. No tweets needed.
No gps wanted either. I drove my mother's Lexus and turned on her onstar or what ever version it is for a trip that I knew where I was going and how to get there. I just wanted to look at the map on the way. (I like maps) That b.. lady yelled at me the whole way. I didn't know how to shut her up. She hated the route I was taking. She couldn't accept the fact that maybe I knew what I was doing. I would get off the expressway from time to time just to try and tick her off. I got in the left lane when she wanted me to exit at a certain spot. It seemed as if she was looking at the exit as it rolled by and would then look back at me and yell because I mmissed her turn. I hoped when I stopped for luch or to get gas she would forget where I was going and would quietly sit there for the rest of the trip No such luck.
I had several hours of her flack before I got there (and back again.) I later learned the car has to be in park before you can make adjustments to your destination.
Never again. I will drive without watching the map.

I bought a GPS a couple years ago. I was driving to a conference in Alabama and, among other things, it meant I was likely going to be driving through Nashville (where I'd never been) at rush hour.

So I drove through Iowa (being its usual boring self), southern Illinois (even more boring), a little bit of Kentucky (wtf is a Paducah?), just me and the annoying lady voice. Got to Nashville just as the battery died. Turns out the cord or plug or something had a defect, and it wasn't automatically charging from the cig lighter as it had said it would.

I wanted to say to the GPS lady, "See, if you hadn't been blabbing for hours without letting me drive in silence, you would still have your voice."

But I was too busy trying to figure out where the eff I was supposed to go, so I was denied even the smart remark to the virtual bimbo.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I've had the same cell phone for 5 years now. I keep giving my free upgrades to my kids, because their phones keep breaking (probably because they're in use 20 hours a day). My phone does have a camera, but other than that all it does is phone-stuff.

I do have a Facebook account, but I was the very last person in my family to get one. And I don't tweet.

I got a Garmin GPS for Christmas two years ago, and I absolutely LOVE it. I haven't been lost in two years. It comes with a bunch of different voices. I use the Italian female, Sylvia.

I don't speak Italian, I just love hearing her voice...

I have a hand held GPS for hunting and fishing purposes.. but have not bought one for the car as of yet.. however the wife is pushing to do so. I will cave at some point.. after some bartering. ;)

On Twitter.. signed up to do some graphic design for a couple people.. but I think I may have tweeted once.. not my cup of tea. It is like FB on a straight IV of caffeine.. I don't need to know that much about others.. and certainly am not important enough to tweet about my comings and goings..

I can't even figure out how to call my wife on my cell phone. Just the basic phone with a camera.....I'll learn how to take pics some year.

Only technical thing I have is a GPS on our 4-wheelers. Only time Randy and I use it is to find the bars (not bears) up in the mountains.

Bob you would get along well with my Mom. "I want on/off. yes/no." anything else is just too confusing. I have to agree with her to a point.

Zero2Cool (14h) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (23h) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : You can have my 12th Rd for your 2nd round

Martha Careful (2-Aug) : Congratulations Sterling Sharpe. He was terrific and I loved watching him play.
beast (2-Aug) : I believe it's technically against the CBA rules, but Jerry just calls it a simple unofficial chat... and somehow gets away with it.
beast (2-Aug) : Jerry Jones is infamous for ̶n̶e̶g̶o̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ chatting with players one on one... and going around the agent.
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I would imagine Dallas will resolve this issue with a truckload of money
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : Micah pulling a Myles with trade request

Zero2Cool (31-Jul) : It's probably gonna be slower.
Zero2Cool (31-Jul) : We're gonna just full go on to the new host.
Zero2Cool (31-Jul) : What crap. Site issues galore
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : if PH dies, there is packerpeople com available
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : database is on new host, eventually website will follow
Mucky Tundra (30-Jul) : Zero, regarding Ewers, you are correct.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Sadly, this might be our life for awhile. I could put it on another host, but seems it was slower, although more stable
beast (30-Jul) : How long will it be down?
beast (30-Jul) : RIP site 😭
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site will die, I have to restart it.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Quinn stinks. Lot of underthrows. (my guess)
beast (30-Jul) : How did Quinn Ewers effect where Golden was drafted?
dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site sure seems to be down more than up
