Statistics are for those who want to sit around and argue that this guy, or this team was better than that one.

But isn't that pretty much the whole purpose of this web site?

Greg, Greg, Greg,

Since only one line of my entire post was quoted, and taken entirely out of context, I guess i have to clear things up.

Stats are what they are, numbers to compare players or teams, Sacks, tackles, QB rating, to name just a few.

All are very easily determined. Who or what determines what is a dropped pass?

Because DD in the past has made so many phenominal one-haned catches, him sliding on his back and losing contorl of a pass that was behind him is determined a dropped pass?

That very thing happened a few games ago.

I made the point in my first post, that you can't determine passing yardage lost by dropped passes, the main reason is, in a lot of cases this year, the player dropping the pass, caught a pass the very next play, that wouldn't have been thrown if the first pass was caught.

How many fantastic on-handed, diving, going up and taking the ball away from the defense, catches were made this year?

I am willing to bet The Packer Receivers made just as many "great" catches that most would not have made, as they so-called dropped.

It all evens out, in the end, AR had a fantastic year, The receiving corpse was the best in the league top to bottom.

But as almost always happens, some on this forum will use "dropped passes" as an excuse to slam a player or players.

I wonder if AR would want any other guys than the ones on the roster right now? I'm betting not.

The most important stat is w's and l's, and The Green Bay Packers have the most important W of the year.

The thing is, a drop always yields the same result: It's an incompletion. So even though Driver's drops were on short passes and in traffic, that's only because he couldn't get open deep in the first place

Agreed. Probably not many. But that's probably because he's not as fast as he used to be, especially since he was playing hurt much of the year. Maybe instead of writing "he couldn't get open deep in the first place," I should have written something like, "he hardly ever runs deep routes anyway."

I didn't mean to turn this into an anti-Driver thread by any means. I just thought it was interesting that he had that many drops, and it makes me think that maybe we should cut Jones and Jordy a little more slack.
