His fumble at Chicago was a killer. Despite my respect for Donald Driver, James Jones is now the better bargain. Jones is younger, and at this point, he's a better player. Of course, Driver is returning and Jones is not. My point is that money occasionally dictates decision-making. The Packers cannot afford to pay Driver and Jones the kind of money they are going to play for in 2011. We're still talking about No. 3 and No. 4 WRs. Including Jermichael Finley, we're talking about No. 4 and No. 5 targets.

I know people don’t want to split the group up, but they can’t all stay. They are simply too good and teams are going to pay or even overpay for a talent like James Jones. Keep in mind; Jordy Nelson and Jermichael Finley are soon in line for extensions. Between the three, Jones is the one I would let go, despite the fact that I think he's a solid WR.

If my choices are Donald Driver and James Jones as this team is presently constituted, I'm going James Jones. I love Donald Driver, but that is my choice in the here and now.

The thing is, he feels that he is a #1 receiver. I agree that he is a #3 on our team and a #2 on other teams, but if he plays the same on another team as he did last year for the Packers, he'll remain a #2 or higher.

Regarding drops last season, as I recall, Driver had the highest percentage, Jones was #2 and Jordy was close behind him at #3, and Jennings was a pretty distant fourth.

Another big drop I remember by Jones last year was against the Jets. As with his other big drops, he had a lot of open field in front of him and may very well have taken it to the house. I tolerated his drops until the playoffs. The ones against Philly and Pittsburgh were potential killers. I think the drops have diminished his value somewhat, but he is still a very good #3 WR. He gets open a lot, and he runs well after the catch.

James Jones has said he wants to start. And truthfully, if he said "I want to be #3 for my career", I'd be concerned.

The more I think about this, the more I read, the more stuff I review on Driver and Jones ... the more I'm wanting Jones around and not Driver.

I also think having Edgar Bennet as WR coach will help the WR's with their concentration and fumbling (James Jones) issues.

As much as it pains me to say it, I'd take Jones over Driver in a heartbeat.

Wade, I believe that Driver, Jennings, Jones, and Nelson all had similar drop numbers (Can't find that old story).

I just think that Jones' drops just seemed to always come on huge plays that could have swung the momentum of games (the Jets game comes to mind), which is why he has gotten that label.

That said, Jennings had by far the lowest drop percentage of any of our receivers. Driver was the highest and Jones and Nelson were in between the two extremes. As far as raw numbers they might have been closer considering Jennings was targeted more than any of the other three and Driver probably the fewest due to his injuries.

One of the biggest drops of the year was Jennings verse Detroit.. yet not many are banging his nuts with a monkey wrench for it.

Jones is just as talented as any #2 receiver in this league.. IMO.

I advocated resigning him much earlier this offseason.. I hold the opinion unless someone dramatically overpays him.

Despite that I personally hope GB finds a way to keep him without overpaying. He was losing snaps to Jordy Nelson toward the end of the year last year and may not even be the "#2" when Driver is gone so here's to hoping no other teams are bumping up his market value too high.
