Good news, I suppose. I want to go with the feeling inside me which says those couple of flubby years were the fault of the holder. I'm hoping Masthay as holder will bring the percentage back up to the pre-fantasy football commercial year.

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.

McCarthey lines his ass up for too many long field goals. It isn't like he's kicking in a controlled climate. With our offense, crossing the opponents 40 yard line should mean 4 down territory.

Love the signing but you are completly right Dakota Crosby gets lined up for way to many 50+ field goals.

I agree that he has been lined up for a lot of long ones. The guy has the leg for it but with every yard added, the aim needs to be more precise. Unless there would be a real up-and-coming kicker on the market, I have no issue with keeping Mason around.

I can't remember Mason losing us any games last year, so I am fine with it. And the fact that the kickoffs are shorter I also feel much better about it.

Glad a deal was done for Crosby. Now onto James Jones!

Too many 50+ yarders, inclement weather, and fucking with his holders for two years. Still, I was never confident with the game on the line. Not that he's disproven himself either. Strong leg.

Re: the "He kicks too many 50+ yard fgs/he has to kick in inclement weather" excuses:

From Jersey Al

Other kickers have to kick in cold weather and they have performed much better than Crosby. Reed, Akers, Dawson, Gould, Prater, Lindell, Tynes, Gostkowski, Feely, Graham – all better than Crosby. Out of these 10 cold weather kickers, 7 have better percentages from 50+ yards than Crosby. and all 10 have better percentages from 40-49 yards.

Crosby is a below average kicker.
