McCarthy: tackling must improve

“The tackling just was not there all year,” McCarthy said in press conference to end the season, via the Associated Press.

I think having a real offseason is gonna be very beneficial to alot of these young players.

“Winning is not a sometime thing, it is an all the time thing. You don't do things right once in a while…you do them right all the time.”

Yes, tackling needs to improve and we need to stop rushing 3 guys.

I think the situation on defense is more personnel than execution. imo Unlike the situation on offense.

If I recall accurately, Packers have had issues tackling even under the previous Defensive Coordinators as well. I think the last DC that the Packers tackled well under was Jim Bates.

I don't see the Packers tackling suddenly improving over the off season under Dom Capers. Capers defense is fairly complex and most of the time will be spent on implementing the defensive scheme rather than what should be stressed daily, hourly, hell every frickin minute ... TACKLING.

The love tap Charlie Peprah put on Hakeem Nicks on his 66 yard touchdown caused me to shout 'WTF WAS THAT!' ... before Nicks was anywhere near the end zone. I'm sure I'm not alone.

In other words, as the coach mentions, tackling was an issue all season and it wasn't fixed ... I don't see it being fixed until a new defensive coordinator is brought on.
