Jones has the right attitude. Let's chuck a little fuel on this fire and move to Jennings. I'm going to say right now that Jennings is not a #1 receiver in the mold of Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, or Andre Johnson and is not worth the money paid to those guys. But he is the best receiver on our team and that includes Finley who is off the charts in ability. My question is when it comes time for a contract negotiation for Jennings and he wants similar dollars to the prototypical #1's, what do the Packers do considering having the glut of young talent on the roster at WR and the best QB in the league?

Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, and Andre Johnson are in a league of their own. I don't think Greg Jennings will try to break the bank.

If it came down to Jennings vs. Clay, I'd have to go with Clay.

Let's hope it doesn't come down to that.

I always get into this argument with a friend of mine (Bears fan) who constantly says Greg Jennings is not a prototypical #1 WR and I am always left wondering why? The one thing that I do see in your explanation of Jennings vs the 3 listed is that those prototypical #1 WRs are bigger and are the only threat at WR on their teams. The talent surrounding Jennings is far superior to any of those three teams.

The one thing I always ask is would Jennings be successful if he wasn't surrounded by the likes of Nelson and Finley and I believe he would be. I look at Jennings as a prototypical #1 WR because I believe he can be a successful #1 on any team, surrounded by any WR corp. Hell, Jennings would do work on the Bears.

Similar dollars should be a realistic option here for the Packers and Jennings. Do I think Jennings tries for that kind of money? I hope not.

I don't believe the Packers would be able to do what they do on offense if Jennings wasn't in the mix and #1 at that.

Other things to think about...
- I wouldn't want to see Jennings on the other side of the LoS.
- Who would be our #1 if Jennings were gone? Jordy Nelson?

It is going to be very difficult keeping all of our talent. The trick is to identify the difference makers and keep them under contract and letting the marginal players walk at contract time and replace with youth. I think we have that model in place right now.

I think Jennings is a difference maker and it'll come down to he and Finley eventually. We are in the window of being Super Bowl contenders for the next 5 years and if we have to go into cap hell for that, even though it goes against my fiscal conservatism, then we should retain our studs even if we may have to overpay. I can't believe what Jorde Nelson signed for. Overpaying for Jennings and way underpaying Jorde is what causes dissention, so that is another aspect of this topic.

I would say Nelson, Cobb, and Gurley would be better than that lineup.

Sometimes Packer fans need a reality check into how spoiled we've become. I was a kid during the 70's and 80's but I do remember it being very difficult living in Minnesota West.

I think being number 1 WR on the Packers is as important as being the number 1 RB. The Packers offense is about matchups and exploiting them.
