Here is where you can post who you thought made the best impression on you last night at the scrimmage.

Morgan Burnett - Aggressive without being careless and finding his spot quickly to make the tackle, he showed that he is growing in the system and becoming more dependable back there in his safety position.

Jerel Worthy - We see what he can do when he fully turns on beast mode. Post said mode, he had the look of complete exhaustion (he says he caught in the moment of having "made it"), but if we can get that kind of play consistently throughout the season, that will be huge. The concern is during the length of the season, can he keep it up. It is hard for DTs, especially those in their rookie season, to keep that up.

Brandon Saine - The guy is tough to bring down and has great play-making ability. He fits the mold of a Brandon Jackson, but is more talented running the ball. I look forward to watching him this preseason.

oh and duh Aaron Rodgers. Geez he is good. I think he could have gotten sacked by Lattimore (who also played well) if it were true live action. Latt. just kind of ran by him just seeming to let him know he was there 🙂

Worthy looked good.

Dezman Moses didn't disappoint.

Saine looked good.

I thought Coleman acquitted himself well.

Alex Green looked nice.

Nick Perry got after it. Sure, he beat some scrubs, but normally he's going up against Bulaga all the time.

Fairly uneventful Family Night, compared to most. No big thunderstorms, no big plays by no-name guys.

Shields looked all right on that KO return. Had a nice cut.

Aaron Rodgers was phenomenal.

Jerel Worthy was the stand out of the night, though. They were using him in a couple of different ways. He was standing up and rushing the QB opposite of Nick Perry in one package. That's impressive for a 290-pound defensive lineman. He anticipates the snap count well. He's the quickest off the snap among the d-line. I imagine he’s the frontrunner to start in the base and along side B.J. Raji in many sub packages.

Bryan Bulaga made some key blocks. He paved away for James Starks’ best run.

I can’t say much for the tackling because this is a glorified practice. Sam Shields whiffed once, but Perry (I think) was in good position to clean up after him. Tramon Williams also missed badly on a play. He just had poor form. It makes me wonder whether he’s 100%.

There were many false start penalties. That’s probably just the adrenaline.

The No. 2 offense didn’t score a touchdown on the No. 1 defense. That’s a good confidence boost for the group. They have a lot of talent, but they’re young in key areas. Confidence can go a ways into getting them to believe.

It's kind of hard to really make anything out of the glorified practice.
If the offense makes a play, you worry about the d. If the defense makes a play, you worry about the O.
One concern i had was Crosby. He missed alot of FG's. He had plenty of leg on all of them, but just was off on aim. I'm sure they will work that out though.

One thing i LOVED was when the ENTIRE offense doing the Lambeau Leap TWICE after scoring touchdowns......and the refs throwing a "unsportsmanlike conduct" penalty on the first one.

They were letting Crosby get his bearings after the new construction.

Worthy popped out the most for me.. but I have to admit a bit of bias as well here as I was really focused on what he would bring.

Moses flashed as I thought he would.. raw power and burst.. however he has a ways to go yet in terms of rushing the passer. He showed little other than bull rushing.. and as we know, one trick ponies rarely make a consistent long term impact. So unless he held his arsenal back in this scrimmage, which is very possible, there is development needed.

But he also was all over the field.

But can we really expect any more from a possible undrafted gem?

IMO.. Saine looked sharp... probably the most complete back on the roster right now. Not going to be a superstar type back.. but think of a Kevin Faulk type player, does a ton of the dirty work for a pass first offense.

On the "bad" notes..

Williams shoulder still looks like an issue.. just didn't look right in the press yet. Hopefully just holding back a bit in a scrimmage?

After the first wave of Offensive lineman.. we have a ton of growth needed before the season. Just didn't look sound.. however part of that may be mixing and matching part.. like most preseason.

It was only a scrimmage.. really how much can really be taken from it? But it was a start. [grin1]
