Ether a run between the tackles or a play action play, followed up by the one they didn't do the first time.

Like most people here, I'm not even going to play the run. Why should I?

The Jaguars showed that last week. If they weren't so horrendous on offense (without MJD) they would've won that one thanks to their defense.

Everyone here seems to believe that we kept on running because we wanted to establish the run. Of course, that's a part of it, but they where daring us, as well. They played pass all the way, hence the amount of plays where there where enough yards to be gained on the ground, which Aaron/Mike saw, but where our O-line made Mandarich look good in run blocking and Green tripped over every blade of grass that was slightly higher than the rest.

One last thing... Green got a positive response from some, just because he could take 20+ carries a game, so we could keep the defense honest... Well, that doesn't work when you run for a 2 yard average when they're daring you to run it.

Damn I thought this was a fun thing to think about, but of course the negativity and snide remarks, that so often do, have taken over this thread.

IT'S A FUCKING GAME PEOPLE AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT THE PACKERS ARE STILL PRETTY DAMN GOOD.

Positive thinking, try it sometime, you'll be amazed at how much farther you get.

Edit:

I was really looking foward to reading the answeres to this thread, but after the first couple it's just the same old crap.

Didn't mean to piss in your Wheaties, bpf, but an intelligent answer depends on a lot of factors: down and distance, score, time left in half/game. If it's not 3rd down, and the Packers aren't behind big late in the game, I'm thinking run, since they're in a 2 TE set (and neither of them is the one that can't block).

no down and distance?

well, like a few here already,

I'd just play the pass because i know that the odds of Green making a good play are minimal.

The down and distance doesn't really matter. It wasn't a question of what formation the defense is going to use. It is about what the first thought would be. And that is pretty simple. DJ and Crabtree have combined for 9 receptions between them. They are either in to pass protect or run block.

The reason, I bring up the question, is, I went back and watched the jags game quickly, and noticed on a fairly high percentage of the run plays happened in this situation. Finley, or Finley and a WR were taken out of the game to bring in our blocking TEs. And quite a few were one TE on the line with the other in the backfield. This may have been partially due to not having Kuhn active, but it really seemed to tip off the run game. The defense was able to bottle it up, because they were able to keep 8 bodies closer to the LOS without having to really worry about pass coverage. If it did happen to be a pass, they were able to drop a couple to have 5 covering 2, with 6 rushing.

Seemed like a lack of creativity in the play calling.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

that is the true value of a complete TE or TEs.

makes the D have to guess what you are thinking.

I believe this is why the Patriots have done so well with Gronk and Hernandez, while having a top 5 running game.
