But we got to throw on 1st down sometimes. I can't stand it when we get all conservative.

And where the hell is Grant? Is his hammy that bad? Rusty from missing camp? Don't tell me he developed a case of the Shaun Alexander syndrome. Running backs usually get it once they get a big pay day. Symptoms include not running as hard as you used to when you were broke and just plain not showing up.

So far the little bright glimpses we've had have been from Lumpkin. Jackson got that TD today, but Lumpkin seems to be the most consistent RB at the moment. I haven't looked at the stats since the game ended, so I may be wrong about that, but that's just how it seems to me.

I don't have internet at my apartment yet, so I'll be brief:

Aaron and the receivers looked great. Rodgers' escapability was key in some of the big plays. Jackson and Lumpkin both looked good (especially Jackson). The defense played well in the first half and again at the end of the game. The big Calvin Johnson play started with a mismatch (Tramon in coverage).

Defense came up big in the end! Go Woodson! Go Packers! Bring on the Cowboys!

Oh yeah -- and the Packers have taken the sole lead of the NFC North and it's only week number two!
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

After every run, Grant looked visibly upset. I wonder if that was from his performance, or if it's frustration of not being completely healthy. You're right, he should have been pulled. No need to risk further injury.

I don't think conservative play-calling was the main problem. The big play that turned things around in the third quarter was when they tried to pass on a first and ten and Clifton allowed his guy to hit Rodgers from the blind side and force a fumble. Then the Packers had a couple possessions deep in their own territory where they couldn't open up the playbook. Thankfully, they did eventually complete a couple passes to swing the game back in their favor.

I'll have to watch again to see what happened to the defense. The pass rush disappeared at times, but I don't know if it was because of a lack of blitzing or if the Lions started picking up the blitzes.

The special teams made two huge mistakes--the bad snap that Frost couldn't handle, resulting in a safety, and a penalty on a kick return that forced the offense to start out on their own 10 yard line.

It sure was a screwy game. I'm glad it's over.

Good all around. Only Grant got stuffed. He needs to recover from this hamstring and get up to game speed. It'll happen later in the season.

Had to follow this one through updates since in VA we get stuck with Redskins games. Those were some anxious moments when the Lions kept creeping up and up then suddenly GB drops 24 points on them in a couple of minutes. What a roller coaster. We can't let off like that against the Cowboys though. We'll have to see how they look against Philly, but I don't like our chances if we try to coast against them.

I'll mention that watching the Colts-Vikings game, the Vikings would have won that game if they had a real QB. Manning came up big in the clutch despite all the trouble they're having. With two injured O-linemen and missing their O-line coach, the Colts were in complete disarray most of the game. But with Minnesota only getting field goals, the Colts hung around long enough for Manning and the receivers to make a few plays and steal the game. There aren't many QBs who could have pulled out that win with their O-line playing that badly. It was a jailbreak on play after play.

I was really looking forward to a nice, relaxing game when it was 21-0! Boy, we sure lost the lead real fast! Not sure what happened after halftime, but apparently everyone thought we had the game in the bag and forgot there's another 30 minutes to play. At least the Defense stepped it up at the end, since the offense just wasn't getting the job done! Next week will be interesting...

Anyone know what happened to Bigby? I didnt see him at all in the second half? Did he go out with an injury or because of the bicep injury from last week?
