Obviously, this is a bit early, but let's hear who your day 1 winners and losers are.

I'll start off with declaring the Browns winners so far.

First of all, they got quite the coaching staff together before FA started.

Then, on day one, they haven't gone crazy and throw out ridiculous money to a player like Wallace, but they have spent big bucks wisely on a huge need at OLB and on a guy who doesn't have a whole lot of mileage on him, but was the best pass rusher on the Ravens last year when he got his chance.

I obviously like the Paul Kruger signing.

Then they go out and get a back-up to him and Sheard in Quentin Groves. A solid veteran, who has a lot of experience in the 3-4. And they got him for a very reasonable price.

They paid quite a bit for Desmond Bryant, but I do feel like he's an underrated player and I think that this deal might just pay off bigtime.

Next to the players that they've gotten, I just like they philosophy that they're following here.

Build from the lines back.

They're trying to get a strong pass rush and run stopping unit up front. The rest will just follow from there.

I think the Bengals are the biggest winners because Steelers and Ravens have lost quite a bit.

Are the Ravens going to be able to field 11 players on D with the number of players they are releasing??? Maybe they have said to Flacco the extra $.6 mill on your contract is on the premise that you play D as well.

I like what the Browns are doing and think they got better coaches... but I think Kruger is a bit over rated. He didn't even start half of the Ravens games last year. Don't get me wrong, Kruger is good... but not as well as the hype.

I do think Quentin Groves is a solid 3-4 OLB (and wanted the Packers to sign him). But he has one year experience in the 3-4 (which isn't a lot).

IMO Groves clearly was mainly an NFL 3-4 OLB while he was in the draft. Draft for need only Jags thought differently and grabbed two light speed DEs to play in their 4-3 and hopefully stop the Colts QB... (clearly that failed). I found it interesting watching Jags draft only for need and over reaching time after time interesting for a while... kinda felt bad for their fans though.

Yeah.. It's still waaaay too early for me to even pontificate. The Lions are turning heads now, too.

They drafted an OT in the 1st round not long ago, so they got one filled, and signed a DE/DT tweener which might be a starting LDE but not sure he he's that good. They do have the 5th pick in the draft, which I figure will be the top CB or one of the best RDE in the draft.

Their LB level is still looking pretty open if you can hold off the DL long enough.

And got a hole at RT right now...

I hate to say it, but I think what the Bears is doing is smart... if they can protect Cutler that offense might be very tough.
