I don't think it's as simple as you make it sound but I'm with you GB I'm sick of people bringing the thing up again, which kinda makes me wonder why you started this thread. Let's just enjoy some football cause the lousy offseason seems to come soon enough

I'm only writing this because there are still Favre faithfuls out there who feel the need to go on and on about what a "mistake" the Packers made.
Favre retired. That should have been the end of it- he had a great season and could have ended his career with a bang! (Not to mention some dignity.) The entire Packer nation wept and mourned over the loss of their hero- a legend. Time passed and we learned to somewhat accept it. I'm sure there are a lot of you (like me) who bought all of the SI issues and prepared to honor Favre for eternity. It was coming to a close...
And then he decides he wants to play again. Rodgers had already been promised the starting spot- he had long waited for this and it was most certainly his time...his team. Favre came back out of the blue and basically demanded his spot back, and for the next million days Packer fans were held hostage by non-stop coverage and DRAMA. He's played the "retiring game" way too many times- but this time it went too far. Not only was he an ass about getting back on the team that had moved on, but he betrayed us all by accepting a position on the NY Jets team.
Now, we all know the gritty details of the entire story so I won't go into that. What I'm saying is that Favre made a huge mistake. Had he stayed retired he would have actually kept all of his fans, and would've been known as having a great last season with a team that was always loyal to him.
The Packers are 2-1, with that one loss to a very VERY good Dallas team.
The Jets are 1-2, and now Favre is injured. Not only are Rodgers's stats better, but the Green Bay fandom has accepted him with open arms. We love the guy. I hear so many people say "Favre who?"...and he deserves it. Yes, he is a legend, but it's time to move on. A new era has begun with Aaron Rodgers, and I have a feeling he'll be around for quite a while.
The Jets can have our sloppy seconds...
I wonder what they'll do next year when Favre retires?

First off, Favre had every right to change his mind and want to play again!! Yes, he could have taken the 20 million and went home to Mississippi and sat on his bum, he chose not to because of his character and the love for the game. I also was very angry when watching the last Packer game last weekend, I did see one sign held up saying "Favre who". Now this is total disrespect for a man that has given the Packers organization 16 years, someone that has played through injury, his fathers death, his wifes breast cancer etc...I could go on and on. I understand that Rodgers is now the QB and thats great, but lets not disrespect someone that has given his all.

As players get cut or have moved on, they end up on all different teams, doesnt mean they get sloppy Packer seconds, some of them end up doing quite well and I said some. LOL...

The Jets should be proud to have a legend playing as their QB, one that still throws the ball and can play at a high level.

On how Favre has played his whole career and for the many years he has played I think he has every right to take his time on what he wants to do. Retirement is a big deal, this means that he would never play football again, something that he loves. So I for one would be willing to give him all the time necessary to make up his mind because you know why? He is worth it. No matter what happened with the Packers, he will still be a legend and go into the Hall of Fame which he so much deserves.

I am behind Favre 100% playing for the Jets just like I was 100% behind him when he was with the Packers.

I for one can say I hope Rodgers does well this year, I will not trash anyone like you are here trashing Favre. Carry on...:)

I am sure Favre would love to win all the games he plays, but if he dont he still says its fun, and when you get older you realize things that are more important. When you are young you dont understand it.

I'm not saying I don't respect the guy and what he's done...but really, no one put a gun to his head and said "TELL THEM YOU WANT TO PLAY, EVEN AFTER YOU SAID YOU WANTED TO RETIRE!!"
So...yes I do think it was a mistake on HIS part.
It's like breaking up with someone- and then after the other person has already moved on, you say "uh, yeah, lets get back together now, even though you're with someone else."
So...I hope that somehow the Jets and Packers end up playing each other in the post-season. That would be an incredible game. Not to mention a bit odd to watch.

Brett who oh you mean the guy that threw 6tds today and is close to leading the league now if im mistaking he has the lead.
