Look at the way he tried to get around the offensive lineman on the one play, he made a nice move, but it was very quick and he tripped over the O-Lineman.

That injury has absolutely nothing to do with stretching...

You stretch more often after the work out. Before hand is odd because you are loosing muscles you may or may not soon be testing out with vigorous exercise.

I know this subject is about donte jones and his ankle sprain and stretching may not have as much influence in his injury ...

bicep tears, pec tears, hamstring tears, calf tears - strain strains or whatever you call them IMO all have to do with lack of flex-ability and not warming the muscle up.

For example - whom is more to suffer from Achilles heel tears? - its the weekend warriors, or people that dont stretch adequately which IMO is most.

anyways ...

Anyway, I'm getting carried away on a small ancillary point.

This is football, people put their bodies in awkward positions and big people sprint at and run into other big people. A lot of Packers are hurt right now, it's frustrating, but it is something that happens in this sport. A guy spraining an ankle hardly seems like a point of concern...it'll heal fairly quickly and I really don't think Datone, specifically, is a reflection of inadequacies in the training/conditioning staff.

When I workout if I don't stretch first, I don't get the fullest of the workout and end up having pulled muscles. I think its unwise to not properly stretch before a workout.

I think it depends on the activity and muscle groups used too. When I "work out" or "exercise" I rarely stretch before. I stretch after. I see most people at the gym do the same.

You do need warm ups though and I think certain specific stretches are fine for that. I still some players just don't do them correctly and/or cut corners. The whole personal coach thing is intriguing but it would crowd the field and make practice a lot harder.

They do yoga or external qigong. Even better than just stretching.

EDIT: They SHOULD.

I warm my muscles up with a quick workout, then stretch, then work out. Seems to work well.

Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I would imagine Dallas will resolve this issue with a truckload of money
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : Micah pulling a Myles with trade request
