Who better than Rodgers and McCarthy to teach Tolzien the offense.
That said, I'd like to have Flynn around for another year.
He's a proven commodity as a backup in Green Bay.

One loose end still there in free agency is Matt Flynn. There has been very little said or done - which to me, seems like a good thing. I see Scott Tolzien as having a much better upside than Flynn. I'd like to see Tolzien benefit from a full off-season and training camp, and Flynn not re-signed.

or how about this ... lets have the QB debacle we had last year because someone 'cough cough mike m.' cant let a cant pass QB go.

Flynn if we dont want to lose like dogs ... tolzien if we do ... if we want to work someone up for the future maybe tolzien but Im not sold on him

Every rookie coming in to the league has some kind of "upside".

After last years backup debacle I can't even believe there is any discussion.

I'm betting The Packers have one less DB , LB, or maybe only 4 TE's on the final 53 and keep 3qb's.

Tolzien may have all the upside in the world, and in another year he may be able to be that guy who can "step in" in a pinch. Hell it could be this year, but I'm hoping The packers don't gamble with their backup QB.

I hope this news feed is right!!!!

Tolzien lost us a couple games all by himself, and almost lost us the Vikings game had flynn not pulled off that miracle. People make fun of Flynn's arm strength, but at least he knows what he's doing out there.

Matt Flynn is a perfect backup quarterback for the Packers and for as long as Rodgers is in Green Bay. Now, how much is he worth on a long term deal? He has already stolen plenty of money from various teams and is more than likely financially set for life, so what is ample compensation?

At what point do we start grooming Rodger's successor? He's 30 now, so he realistically has 8 years at the most left in him, correct?

I was having a good day Dakota. Don't make me think of a time when we won't have Rodgers anymore 😞

Not having Rodgers shouldn't be a stressor anytime soon. 8 years left with him playing at or near his peak should be about right - Peyton is 37 or 38. I wouldn't be surprised to see Rodgers make it to 40 or more.

As for replacing him, obviously neither Flynn nor Tolzien would be that. The time would be 2-4 years before Rodgers retires. However, not knowing exactly when that is, I'd say about 5-6 years from now, a little sooner if a flat out bargain falls to us like when we drafted Rodgers.

As for the immediate situation, IMO, Tolzien is a better player. Forget "upside" - I'm talking ability. His only problem last season was not having the benefit of training camp to learn and prepare. With that, he should be head and shoulders better than Flynn, and probably a lot cheaper too.

We have to remember that Tolzien went from practice squad to starter in like a 2-week period. Yes, the picks he threw were dumb, but you gotta learn.

Flynn is the backup right now until Tolzien proves us otherwise. But I'm fine with this stable of 3 QBs and do want Flynn re-signed.

beast (2-Aug) : Jerry Jones is infamous for ̶n̶e̶g̶o̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ chatting with players one on one... and going around the agent.
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I would imagine Dallas will resolve this issue with a truckload of money
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : Micah pulling a Myles with trade request

Mucky Tundra (30-Jul) : Zero, regarding Ewers, you are correct.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Sadly, this might be our life for awhile. I could put it on another host, but seems it was slower, although more stable
beast (30-Jul) : How long will it be down?
beast (30-Jul) : RIP site 😭
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site will die, I have to restart it.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Quinn stinks. Lot of underthrows. (my guess)

dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
