I am not giving Colt Lyerla a pass because he is a Packer now. I am giving Colt Lyerla a pass because the things he has done were when he was 18-20 years old and well, we do dumb things as kids/young adults. We think we are untouchable at that age.

To me, that really differs from guys who are already professionals and who continue to do the dumb crap they do (looking at you, Aldon Smith) and get numerous passes. There is just no comparison.

I'd prefer to think of Colt Lyerla's 2nd chance as being different than Aldon Smith's 9th chance in the NFL...

Maybe you would but you know as well as I do that many Packer fans wouldn't. The problem is we will have no way of knowing unless the Packers cut him and someone else signs him. Then we will see.

I was actually shocked that the Packers went ahead and signed him because it IS unlike them. I also find it funny that the other 31 teams shied away from signing this kid when a majority of them have a problem on their team already or have signed a troubled player in the past. I think that is what set me off most with Bob McGinn's tweet the other day when he said the other 31 teams are probably questioning the Packers.

What a great opportunity for him, and I am sure he will realize that once he starts catching some of Aaron's passes... Great opportunity for the Packers too. They took a gamble, and if it pays off, they deserve some good credit for giving this talented player his shot.

If Colt had signed with the Vikings, would we as Packers fans respond differently? Certainly we would. Would our intent be to needle Vikings fans or the young man himself? I believe the former over latter.
