Early in his career at Southern Miss, Khyri Thornton sometime took plays off. Thornton brought more energy in 2013, but now will have to kick things up a notch to turn heads in Green Bay.

Of all the draft picks, this one gives me the worst feeling of being a bust.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

I can understand that one uffda. I felt like that too with this out of nowhere pick in R3. But, I'm excited to see what it was that made Thompson go so high for him. If he's anything on par with another out of left field selection like Nick Collins in terms of impact, I'll be thrilled.

Projected UDFA and Ted took him R2...

Thornton seems to have the size and motor to step right in and make a positive impact. I'm hoping to see just that.

Players from teams that win a lot seem to get over rated by fans and draft "experts" (which neither really are held responsible for their choices after the draft). While players from poor teams get under rated. And Thornton is coming from a team where they've won 1 game in two years and watching their defense he jumped out compared to the rest. And seems like he was doubled more often and the guy the offense was trying to avoid.

His style reminded me of Josh Boyd style but more explosiveness and potential. Also watching Thornton seems like he was able to break into the backfield a number of times trying to chase the RB down but didn't quite have the speed to chase the RB down and his team didn't set the corner so the RB got some yardage but he forces the RB to go way around. Any pro team should do a heck of a lot better having someone on the outside to push them back in (or make the tackle if they stay out).

In reality, where a guy is picked really doesn't matter too much. Our all time leading WR was selected in the 7th round, and the QB who won the most SB's was drafted in the 17th. I just hope this surprising 3rd round selection justifies or outperforms his draft status.

Yeah, it is all relative.

What I am looking forward to is seeing what Thornton does with exponentially better talent around him. He was on a very bad team. Now, Thornton will be seeing more one on one, more than he may have ever seen, and I would expect he could turn in some decent numbers.

That was a 2005 draft profile from SI on Collins. They would not augment it after the fact. Interesting he had a 3.21 grade. Turns into one of the best Pro Bowl Safeties in the NFL. I'm hoping Thornton can develop into a solid DT for the Packers, and become one of those real steals out of nowhere akin to Collins.

Man, it sure would be fun to somehow know where Ted could have gotten both players, had he not jumped R2 and R3... They only become steals or great picks if they overwhelmingly produce.

A little fact about the Collins pick. The Ravens called saying good pick and that they were going to take him with their next pick.

Whether Neal can ever truly play OLB remains to be seen, but that is another discussion.

And, he has great size and speed. I could really give a shit what his stats were after that, as he was surrounded by a bunch of hacks.

It could be really fun to see this kid work in a front 7 with the likes of Peppers, Raji, Daniels, Matthews and any of the other players we've added these past two or three years. This could be really freaking good.

Speed cannot be underrated, especially there.

beast (2-Aug) : Jerry Jones is infamous for ̶n̶e̶g̶o̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ chatting with players one on one... and going around the agent.
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I would imagine Dallas will resolve this issue with a truckload of money

Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site will die, I have to restart it.

beast (30-Jul) : How did Quinn Ewers effect where Golden was drafted?
dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
