Back to the real subject, I was reading this week's SI. They had a story on Junior Bridgeman. It was an interesting read. After he retired he bought 5 Wendys in the Milwaukee area. The best grossing store did $800,000 gross which was about average nationwide. He was not happy with the results so he gave his employees raises and he got in there and worked with them. He was expecting more from each employee and showed them he was willing to work right along side them. All the stores excelled. He now has 270 restaurants. Those Wendys stores improved their gross substantially.

I have no objection to employees getting more pay. I think the employer who pays more than the average and works with his employees to achieve it will get more in return. Win win situation. Those who wait for the government to make their lot in life better will never be better.

I absolutely loathe white collar work. I feel like a bucket of shit thief when I sit at a desk and get paid really well for it. But hey, that's just me.

It seems I've touched a nerve with Wayne, hope you didn't lose any sleep rethinking your convictions of lessor people than you deem yourself to be. Too bad in Seattle, Wayne, those menial wokers are going to start having better lives. I guess we'll have to wait and see if those poor business owners can make ends meat. A lot of money has been made off of paying people peanuts in this country. $15 minimum wage is a small step in the right direction.

Chin up though! Microsoft is laying of over 17,000 employees. Those Seattle residents can make the ~20 minute commute to Microsoft and land themselves a career. [wasntme]

Some good points on this article.

As far as I know, the minimum wage is being raised because people are complaining it's too little of an amount for their lifestyle, but that seems like a personal problem, and you should budget yourself more efficiently.

That there is the problem. People want to live like "rockstars", but do not want to put forth any effort to earn it.

Yeah I figured the business would do that initially. Supply and demand will probably sort it all out. What I find amusing is that most businesses making good coin will piss and moan about paying income taxes, but they could lower those taxes by paying out more in wages to the employees that are making them all the money.
