No. We're going to get blown off the LoS in short yardage.

To be honest - Im looking forward to see how they do; be a nice change - and I concur with everyone else. Enough of the 3 man rushes against 5-6 defenders. It gets us nowhere and any good QB with all the time in the world in the pocket can hit a open guy eventually.

4 man rushes work much better - you see teams in their base 4-3 team apart teams.

I often see us with 3-20+ and go rush 3 and they hit the 1st down. I dont see that happening with decent pressure; and 3 guys doesnt count.

In the end it'll come down to talent more than weight. Our Raji/Pickett/Jolly line last year sucked most of the time and for all the credit Jolly is getting he was barely getting 20 snaps a game early in the year.

I feel a lot better about a Jones/Raji/Daniels or Boyd/Raji/Daniels line than what we had last year. Jones is really the question mark but I actually really liked what I saw out of Boyd last year. Daniels for whatever reason gets thought of as small but the dudes over 300lb and isn't someone I see being manhandled or "blown off the LOS" very often.

I worried about him being in the base defense as a down-lineman at first because of his size, but now I'm starting to think that it won't be as much of an issue. I don't think opposing O-lines will be able focus attention to moving him off the line if Peppers or Matthews (or even Neal) is also in the neighborhood, so I'm feeling optimistic about the line and crossing my fingers for good health!

You are right Stoic. Jones just hasn't proven himself in that position yet. He is a beast in individual drills though. Just have to find the right place for him on the field to be successful.

I was one of the first to advocate having a smaller more mobile D-Line - tacklers instead of space occupiers. Hell yeah, we are better off that way. The team stunk against the run with two or three of those "tubbos" in there. I'd like to see not even one - a third mobile athletic 290-300 pounder instead of Raji in the base D. As for Grady Jackson, I haven't seen ANY of last year's 330+ pounders show near the run-stopping ability that Jackson showed. If somebody did, I'd be for using him, but that's unlikely.

That's because they are old and out of football shape. Not because they are big. They started the year off stuffing the run great.
