Amidst all the nonsense, the greed, the troubled souls in the NFL.. there are some guys that just get it. For a handful of kids.. this is probably a highlight of their lives to go "shopping" on an NFL player instead of dwelling on all the heartache that probably got them to protective services.

Yeah, it gets some good PR for it.. but the smiles that it placed upon the young people.. he can have the PR too.

The Texans were off Tuesday.

At 8:30 a.m. on his off day, wide receiver Andre Johnson walked into a Toys R Us near NRG Stadium, found the children waiting for him and gathered everyone together.

“You can go through the store and get whatever you want,” said Johnson, the Texans’ longest-tenured player. “I’ll pay for it. Have a Merry Christmas.”

Empty shopping carts were lined up. The countdown began. Then Johnson briefly paused the rush.


Don’t worry about video-game systems, he said. If you want one, you’ll get one, and a couple games. They’re behind locked doors. Focus on what you really want and you’ll get a free system when your carts are loaded.

Folks probably sick of me saying this, but THIS is what we should be delving into over and over again on the media front. Show the GOOD, publicize the GOOD and give the GOOD it's due!

I would love to have that kind of cash to do that. Imagine the smiles on those faces.
