Twisting the knife.

Now for the bigger and bolder decision, the play that ignited Seattle’s comeback, punter Jon Ryan’s 19-yard touchdown pass to Garry Gilliam on a fake field goal. Ryan had been lobbying for the call during the week of practice, after special teams coach Brian Schneider’s staff identified the weak link in the Packers field goal block team.

Reserve linebacker Brad Jones was recklessly aggressive coming off the edge on film. He consistently darted hard to the inside in an effort to get the block, and often went to unnecessary lengths to do so. Against Dallas in their divisional game, he lined up on the left side three times and on the right once, and on one attempt he tried to leap over a blocker only to get stonewalled.

1. Take the snap and roll out to Jones’ side with either Garry Gilliam (left side) or Luke Willson (right) as a receiving option. If the linebacker covers the receiver, Ryan should run. If not, throw it.

2. If Jones isn’t on the field, take a delay of game penalty and then kick the field goal.

“Kickers are head-jobs anyway,” Ryan said within earshot of Hauschka, “so you don’t want to screw them around.”

Jones showed up on the left side, which meant undrafted rookie tackle Garry Gilliam would get the throw if necessary. Gilliam, a converted tight end out of Penn State, hadn’t caught a touchdown since high school.

“I broke the huddle like, Please be on my side, please be on my side,” Gilliam says. “And then [Jones] was.”

A lot of people will probably blame Jones for this but that's 100% on Slocum. If what Jones was doing is something he shouldn't have been then it needed to be corrected. If they corrected it and he had kept doing it then they needed to replace him. The fact that neither of these things happened tells me they were ok with how Jones played those FGs.

Jones job is to try and get penetration and block the FG. This was first a coaching mistake blame slocum and an execution mistake on Hawk. They have to know what the situation is. 4th and 10 on the 19. Hawk and Richardson were not rushing so their job was to protect against the fake. Hawk was put in a tough position and he messed up. He committed to the run way to early. He should have stayed around the 2-3 yard line, making it a hard throw over his head, than if Ryan runs, hawk should be able to get him before Ryan makes 10 yards.

Troubling sign that Green Bay Packers never saw fake field goal coming

"We have an alert if we think that they're going to fake it," Richardson said after the game. "We have calls for that."

To Richardson's knowledge, there was no alert call made.

"We were expecting a kick," said Richardson, who led the Packers in special-teams snaps played (321) during the regular season.

"It didn't enter my mind," Richardson said. "I was pretty sure they were going to kick it. Great call. Great play by them."

However, linebacker A.J. Hawk said he knew a fake was a possibility.

"It's an option, for sure, especially that deep in their zone," he said. "They definitely executed it."

To all of you who say "players not plays." This is an example of a player NOT being corrected.

Slocum was so bad they had to hire another ST coach to come in and do his job for him. Still, other teams see BJones on the film study, and our team doesnt.

This is what happens when unsound play is not corrected. Coaches are SUPPOSED to do more than just sit up in the press box calling plays.

Should they have been aware that a fake was coming? We all were in the chat. LOL. So that's a F up on Slocum's part too. But it never would have happened if we had players being coached up.

Dude's squads are a joke.

I do agree that our STs have never been that good; although I do like a few players on our ST now; masthey has turned out really well and crosby well really liked his kicking the past 2 seasons - glad he is on our team.

not sure why we have kept slocum for this long ...
or Oline has worked much better this year thou - weird because I think we have the same coach as before and we used to hate rodgers getting sacked 30+ times a season.

maybe those guys and rodgers are just getting better.

What does this say about the Packers ability to self scout -- as they claim to do on a regular basis -- when a team like Seahawks picks up on something and can use it against them?

Zero2Cool (1h) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (10h) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (10h) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (10h) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (10h) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (11h) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
Zero2Cool (11h) : You can have my 12th Rd for your 2nd round
Mucky Tundra (12h) : Hey i didn't know we could trade picks in fantasy
Mucky Tundra (3-Aug) : Update: Rock has tried a cheese curd, promises it's not his last
Zero2Cool (3-Aug) : watch it!! lol
Mucky Tundra (3-Aug) : you're right, we never did leave, the site just went down :P

Mucky Tundra (2-Aug) : To this day, I'm still miffed about his 4 TD game against Dallas on Thanksgiving going to waste
Martha Careful (2-Aug) : Congratulations Sterling Sharpe. He was terrific and I loved watching him play.
beast (2-Aug) : I believe it's technically against the CBA rules, but Jerry just calls it a simple unofficial chat... and somehow gets away with it.
beast (2-Aug) : Jerry Jones is infamous for ̶n̶e̶g̶o̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ chatting with players one on one... and going around the agent.
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I would imagine Dallas will resolve this issue with a truckload of money
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : Micah pulling a Myles with trade request
beast (1-Aug) : Packers should make some cheese forks
Mucky Tundra (31-Jul) : GRAB THE PITCHFORKS~
Zero2Cool (31-Jul) : CUT HIM
Mucky Tundra (31-Jul) : Socieltal collapse imminent
Mucky Tundra (31-Jul) : The West has fallen
Mucky Tundra (31-Jul) : After starting off camp with 25 straight made field goals, Brandon McManus has missed one
Zero2Cool (31-Jul) : But it should be stable
Zero2Cool (31-Jul) : It's probably gonna be slower.
Zero2Cool (31-Jul) : We're gonna just full go on to the new host.
Zero2Cool (31-Jul) : What crap. Site issues galore
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : if PH dies, there is packerpeople com available
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : database is on new host, eventually website will follow
Mucky Tundra (30-Jul) : Zero, regarding Ewers, you are correct.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Sadly, this might be our life for awhile. I could put it on another host, but seems it was slower, although more stable
beast (30-Jul) : How long will it be down?
beast (30-Jul) : RIP site 😭
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site will die, I have to restart it.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Quinn stinks. Lot of underthrows. (my guess)
beast (30-Jul) : How did Quinn Ewers effect where Golden was drafted?
dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site sure seems to be down more than up
dfosterf (29-Jul) : 50 cent hookers? I'm moving to Green Bay. I thought it was just real estate that was more affordable there. 😂
Zero2Cool (29-Jul) : Sure seems site going down more than 50¢ hooker
