I posted in the Fan Shout that Tyler Lockett is a luxury pick that I am really starting to take a liking if he is there when we are picking (if we find our way to a mid 3rd rounder or if he slips). The guys stats are great and not only does he put them up as a WR, but also returns kick-offs and punts. Who knows if the Cobb negotiations go sour or he wants out this could not be a luxury pick at all.

My first round luxury is Maxx Williams. Not entirely luxury as we could certainly use a TE, but it would be a luxury to have a 1st rounder spent on the position in many people's minds and definitely cause a bit of chatter.

I do believe in BPA and do believe that we have quite a bit of luxury going into this draft to upgrade positions. Does it always make sense where we cut good players to get a bit better where we may leave weaker areas unaddressed? No, but perhaps Max Williams in the 1st and an ILB in the 3rd does leave us better overall when it is all said and done based on getting the superior talent at the time of the pick.

Who are your luxury picks? Tex I want one other than Melvin Gordon, but feel free to remind us of him as well.

Devin Funchess, TE/WR from Michigan.
Not just because I'm a Michigan fan, but because he would be a Finley type that we have been missing, except better.

I'm still confused on the big concern with TE, I thought we drafted a TE last year pretty high. I like Rodgers and I think he will make huge strides this year. Seriously he was only a rookie coming into an offense that really doesn't use a TE very often.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Defining "luxury pick" as everything that is not particularly a pick for a position of need - and I really don't see any position of need other than ILB, I would go for the best Cover Corner available - assuming Melvin Gordon was already drafted, of course.

As a TE, that might just be all you need to make it in the NFL, but I doubt he'll ever become a true impact player. I think he'll just be the next mediocre tight end we'll have play for us. Again, maybe that's all we're looking for, but it'd make TE far more than a luxury pick.

I don't really know what defines a luxury pick. The only true luxury pick I could think of right now would be a first round QB.

I could see how a speedy HB could make our offense so much better.

With Nelson playing the X, Cobb a true Y and Davante Adams a good Z and a few guys behind that from last year's draft, I guess you could call WR a luxury pick, as well. Thing is, when a guy like Coates drops, is he truly a luxury pick? He'd give us something we don't have right now - pure speed and athleticism.

I guess my luxury picks would be these two guys.

Vic Beasley - DE/OLB - Clemson
With Peppers, Matthews and Perry on the roster, I guess you could say we'd have enough guys right now. Beasley could be a ridiculous player in a year or two. He did absolutely amazing at the Combine, though, so I reckon he'll be picked well before we get on the board.

Jordan Phillips - NT - Oklahoma
Nothing amazing, but just everything you want in a NT prospect. His Combine numbers are actually pretty comparable to Raji's, but Phillips isn't as good a pass rusher as Raji showed us in college and his first few seasons. With Guion still around, Pennel on the active roster and Raji coming back, he'll make for a crowded position, though.

I thought about putting McCarthy here, because the potential is certainly there, but I think I'd get very few people on board to draft an underperforming 6'5, 340 guy with knee issues. Even with the amount of potential he still has.

It is easy to say that I want a new sports car, or that I want a new luxury car, or that I want a new speed boat. It would also be a poor goal to wish for when a new truck is really what I need .

Many of you have short memories of the past season. The Defense did play better, but stopping the inside run was the glaring weakness. Moving #52 to play the inside LB was a temporary fix. Hawk will only be slower next season.

Many say they want to draft the Best Available Player, yet that does not always address the highest need.
Drafting the BAP that fills a need makes more practical sense. The Packers need a speedy, large, LB to fill the teams greatest need.

The Offense is fine and will be fine as long as Ted Thompson resigns BB at RT. If not then that position will become the greatest need.

Mucky Tundra (30-Jul) : Zero, regarding Ewers, you are correct.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Sadly, this might be our life for awhile. I could put it on another host, but seems it was slower, although more stable
beast (30-Jul) : How long will it be down?
beast (30-Jul) : RIP site 😭
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site will die, I have to restart it.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Quinn stinks. Lot of underthrows. (my guess)

dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
