Couple things...we need to lose the ZBS in the off season and go back to the power gap scheme. I like Grant but a stout bruiser like Javon Ringer would do wonders for us maybe Ted Thompson could add a power back to his draft list.
As for the rest of the season keep pounding the rock..would have been nice to see Lumpkin healthy in the mix.

Ryan Grant is still my guy, our O-Line is just in a funk, as well as Grant. But I don't know...They always show that stat where when Grant carries the ball 19+ times we win. I think its good to keep pounding the rock, you don't give up the running game, you keep at it. And eventually it will get going. I think it will get going.

We looked good against Indy. Maybe that translates into more good running performances.

true.. we should always go over 19 carries.. then if that stat is realistic we will be very good

I think the last two games have been a good start to getting on the right track. The numbers weren't that impressive - but they stuck to it, even though they weren't getting big numbers. If they keep that up - things will get better. Plus, now that Aaron's played 7 games and has been successful, teams need to respect his ability as well. I see the running game improving the second half of the season. Now next season - I would like to see it take off right away!

Unless the O-line starts opening some holes, i don't think it matters WHO runs the ball.
I would almost go with Wynn. He's a bruiser and i think he would get some tough yards on his own.
Why not give him a shot? Not much to lose as i see it.

I agree. The holes aren't there. But the RBs haven't been hitting the cut back even when they is open.

I really think take Wells out because he's a big weakness when talking about running the ball. Move Spitz to C and Sitton to RG.

That should help the running game because that OL is a better running OL.

I'm not sure I would do that for the Titans game because I'm not sure even if you put the 5 best run blocking OL that they would be able to run on the Titans. I'll stay with the same.

I think you have to look at the circumstances we have faced especially early when we definately were not running the ball very well.

We had some injuries and were forced to move some guys around on the OL and we were getting flagged for false starts and holding WAY to often leaving us in poor down and distance situations.

It's not easy to run yourself out of first and 15's or 20's especially when your playing the TB's, Vikes, Boys, top ten rush defense teams that traditionally are not giving up much on the ground to anybody. Let alone when your helping them out.

Besides, when you look at our personnel the talent is at WR and a QB who is smart and efficient and many teams defenses are stronger in the front seven than the back four or five. So we get those guys the ball.

It would be great if we could exploit both but then again that's what every team strives for and few achieve. Most have a strength in one or the other because the personnel allows for them to be better in one area than another.

keep running it until we get it right. Even if it takes 30+ carries a game.

Woah Grant is not the problem. Grant is good. Why do people complain so much about him. Do you expect him to be the next Barry Sanders?

Look at the past few games, there have been WAY too many negative runs and runs for no gain.

If you remove the negative runs, and even keep the runs for no gains, Grant is easily averaging 4.2-4.3 YPC against the Colts.

I think McCarthy has to work out the issues that are leading to negative runs. I think the opening of holes for the most part has been worked out, but the negative runs are killing us.

There is just a lack of consistency in opening up holes, making sure there are no negative runs. Grant seems to have gotten into the rhythm of things, so suring up blocking on a few odd instances should produce a world of difference on the opinion of our run game.
