I like Blanchard but he has a significant injury history. Plus I'm confident they could sneak him to the Practice Squad.

Thanks, that's the key I was missing. final cutdown day. I was pretty sure Abby didn't go through waivers last year. Neither did Khyri Thornton or Nate Palmer.

Any young guys they want to move to IR before Saturday have to clear waivers.

He is. I remember checking that out when they signed him. No accrued "active roster" seasons, 1 year on Bears PS, 1 year on Panthers PS. He has at least one more year of PS eligibility.

Well now, I just read that Fowler was put on IR w/o waivers for Jags. So maybe what i thought I knew was wrong...LOL, or it changed because that was my recollection on our 2014 IR guys as well.

That directly contradicts how the other article said it works for players <4 years prior to final cutdown day. 😁 So now I'm back to having no idea. 😕

There are very few roster spots for 3rd stringers.

It is precarious to be the 5th OT, 5th CB, 5th Safety, 5th DE, etc.

The decisions to cut to 75 are rather easy.

I wasn't surprised that Blanchard was cut, but I was surprised he was cut before the final game. I guess we will see a lot of Hundley on Thursday.

No RBs have been cut. Does that mean Neal, Harris and Crockett are all still competing for a 3rd RB roster slot? Maybe that will unfold Thursday as well.

Blanchard getting cut was the most "surprising" of the cuts albeit mainly for the reason Tolzien might not be cleared to play and Rodgers probably doesn't play more than a series or two at most which means plenty of snaps for Hundley if Tolzien can't go. Looks like the Packers have their QB pecking order and the chances of keeping 3 QBs is pretty likely now.

Hoping we'll get to see Abberdaris at least a little bit against the Saints. I think at worst he gets a spot on the practice squad after final cut downs to 53.
