Even though team president Mark Murphy hasn’t even begun his official search yet, all signs point to Vice President of Football Administration/Player Finance Russ Ball being named the 11th general manager in the history of the Green Bay Packers. And while this wouldn’t be a surprise — I wrote about the possibility two years agoContinue Reading››

If Ball is hired I hope there is a plan in place to evaluate talent. And I don't mean some guy who is down on the 3rd or 4th level of scouts. If he had more ability he would be ahead of Wolf and Gutekunst

I got the strong feeling Russ Ball is not going to be the GM.

Risk....Schmisk

I expected one of the outsiders from Balt or NE. The greater risk is Wolf and Guntekist NOT working elsewhere before they GM in GB.

If one or both leave and Ball falls on his face; they'll be back if GB wants them!!!!

Zero I think you're wrong; Uffda got this part right. No one knows who Ball is. Suddenly, and out of nowhere Cohen, Silverstein and others has been given super access to write informative pieces on Ball. Puff pieces is not inaccurate, though I have never heard a bad word about Ball, so maybe the guy is destined for Sainthood.

This is a perfect example of how a corporation shapes the mind before issuing the news of a surprise President or CEO hire. If Ball wasn't the guy, Cohen would not have the access he does and Mike don't sign no 1 year deal.

Ball is coming! [I think!]

B and I on the same page? Oh, it's just gotta happen now. If not, I will never hitch my wagon to Barfarn again! :)

Thank you for echoing the point...there are Ball pieces all over. Ian Rapoport is defending Ball on Twitter. He didn't promote Wolf or Gutekunst, but here he is defending Ball? Why? Ian has been the best guy for Packers news on a national level. That access ain't free...the price is him doing things such as this. I truly believe he already knows who the GM will be but won't violate the edict from 1265 on when he can release it. Such a game with the media and organizations. It really is something to behold and I do wish everyone could really see for themselves how icky it can be.

The skids are being greased making this hire more palatable to the masses and most likely by the time the PR machine is done with the fanbase they'll be all fired up that Russ Ball is our guy. Funny how that works.

In fact, you yourself could call up agents or email them . I've done it in the past and I have no special access. The difference is people like Michael and Tom build rapports with the agents and scouts (whom you can also contact without special access) because it behooves their career so it comes easier for them to get.

Additionally, today I was listening to another ESPN podcast where they were saying Russ Ball is kind of an ass kisser. The radio host all but confirmed that some inside 1265 would concur.
