I have seen a lot of discussion about how our guards are terrible and some hate on our RT. In the video below it talks about a philosophy that empasisizes the interior OL and the RT rather than paying the LT huge dollars. It explains the success of the Colts offensive line this year. Definitely worth the watch and the discussion.

What is wrong with Lane Taylor? He's been the only Guard that I've watched that seems to be doing his job?

LT, LG seem pretty damn solid to me. The right side of the line, not so much.

But the Indianapolis offensive line isn't just a one-trick pony that can only do one thing well and nothing else -- and yes, I'm looking at you, Green Bay.

GBGUY20, What an awesome post. A++!!

This is exactly why I want them to sign a stud guard like Safford from the Rams. It would add greatly to the running game and passing game.

ZTC, Taylor is OK at best, but gets a lot of help from our center. He also does not drive off the ball well in short yardage run game. That notwithstanding, if he was our weakest link, that would be acceptable to me. Unless they sign someone who naturally plays on the right side, I would move him to right guard where he has played in the past.

Andrew Luck hasn't been sacked in four weeks. Incredible.

This video also made me a huge fan of frank Reich. Seems a lot of really good coaches were hired last year, and the year before. Sure hope someone is left for us this year.

To be frank with you, I don’t think we do terribly well at run blocking on run situations, third and two for example.

To give McCarthy some credit, he has widened the splits of our line in the standard down and distance set up. This gives our tackles better angles to deal with edge rusher’s. The other positive aspect of this subtle change is that it creates a bigger holes than otherwise would’ve been created on the interior for a running back.

However, in short yardage situations, you can’t play with the same line splits or you will get busted in the A and B gaps. It is at those times our lack of road-grader ability at guard kills us.

Now, to be critical of MM, he has not utilized the four tight ends on our roster and run situations by putting them in the back field or by cutting them back and wham blocking.

That's a very interesting video, and give Frank Reich a lot of credit for scheme... and the team for focusing on improving their OL. But I feel like the video is also misleading by using his earlier videos as proof and leaving out facts that don't go along with his case.

First of all, a lot of this is about how improved the offense is over the last three games... it kinda helps you're facing the worst team in football and two teams that was originally extremely limited offense, missing their best players (technically Leonard Fournette played in first game back, but seemed injured averaging only 2.2 yards). My point being, when your defense dominates horrible offenses, it helps your own offense. He completely looked past the opponents and the Colts defense to credit the Colts offense only for the last three games.

Also completely overlooks by this guy, they're become a balanced run team over the last 4 weeks... Luck went from averaging 48 passes per week, down to averaging 28 passes per week. So this guy is talking about a run first team

Also the Colts drafted two OGs in the top 37 overall picks... including Quenton Nelson, whom some have called the best offensive linemen draft prospect in over a decade. So it's not like they went out grabbed some guys anyone can easy get in FA or something. Some years the Packers don't even have a single draft pick in the top 25 picks... much less a chance to draft the best linemen in a decade.

And then to say ALL QBs would rather have talented OGs than talent OT? COMPLETE AND TOTAL BULLSHIT! ... while QBs don't control pay GMs do... this guy is only putting his words down... NFL teams are putting millions of dollars down, and they pay OTs more than OG.... Money Talks, this guys is bullshitting!

Don't get me wrong... teams that want to focus on running the ball, and/or have a pocket QB type play as Frank Reich does... OGs are extremely important... and that very well might help the Rodgers career, putting him in a talented run first offense like Luck or Jared Goff... but the Packers/Rodgers aren't currently even trying to be a run first / pocket passing only team.
