Does it matter which tackle position a player manned in college? In other words, could a college left tackle slide over and play right tackle in the NFL -- or vice versa?

The top tackle for a college team nearly always plays LT. That even rings true for a guy like Phil Loadholt or our own Bryan Bulaga. So really, teams in the NFL don't really have a choice.

As for the 12th pick... I'd love for us to pick a DE/OLB... Like pretty much every year. You make life way too hard on yourself when you can't get to the QB somewhat consistently with 4 or have to rely on scheming to get to the QB.

That said, I don't really know if there's anyone around when we're picking. There's a chance Montez Sweat shoots up the board with a good combine. He's had quite decent production against some good opponents and has a lot of upside to him. There's an excellent break-down of some of his better plays over here.

Earlier in the year I was looking at Josh Allen LB but his stock has risen and he won't be on the board. Rashan Gary DT might be available. I would take him if he is. Someone I DON"T want is Ed Oliver, DT, Houston. While he may have top 15 talent he has had injuries to his knee and has fought with his coach on the sidelines. His height and weight have been misrepresented. (That might be his team's fault.) He also skipped the bowl game.

With depth at DL positions in 2019 draft if Jawaan Taylor, OT, Florida falls to 12 I wouldn't mind seeing GB grab him even though they have not had a lot of success taking OTs in the first round in the past.

In addition to OLB Sweat, Clelin Ferrell, Clemson is pretty quick and worth taking a look at.

One of the things we don't know is what type of defense will GB use. With so many sub packages these days I don't suppose the talk of 3/4 vs 4/3 is as relevant as it once was.

Keep the insight coming though, I don't most most of the names being thrown around so i rely on posts like this to gather info and help form my opinions

I don't know if skipping the game is meaningless or not. There are risk/reward factors to be sure. If he has a standout game it probably pushes his stock up. If he lays an egg it may knock him back a few slots.

Oliver is an All American but he didn't play against very many quality teams. It would have been nice to have film of him playing against a tougher opponent. I always question the true ability of players who are so much better but they face weak competition. Division 1-AA (FCS), D2 and D3 included. In like manner guys that skip the combine make me wonder as well.

As for Rodgers, I didn't weight in because I don't care. He's already made it. We already know his abilities. He has his payday. Playing or not playing doesn't change the season.

In this case If you had said skipping the bowl game was an issue with him quitting on his team but Rodgers not playing (if it was his decision not the team) was fine I would find that a bit hypocritical. I'm not seeing that with your reply so you pass.😁

Your comment about seeing him against a tougher opponent makes a lot of sense.

Unless they sign a stud OL or two in FA, the best OL available. Preferably an intelligent road grader with an assassin like demeanor.

Sorry Smokey, I cant narrow it down to 1.

Plenty of talent this year in the top 50.
The Packers have 3 of the first 45 picks.

#12 DT
#32? WR
#44 OT

I would be happy with any 3 of the players listed below.

Abram, Johnathan Sr Mississippi State FS

Allen, Zach Sr Boston College DE
Bryant, Austin Sr Clemson DE

Davis, Reakwon Jr Alabama DE/DT

Jones, DreMont rJr Ohio State DT
Lawrence, Dexter Jr Clemson DT
Brown, Derrick Sr Auburn DT

Brown, Marquise Jr Oklahoma WR
Harry, NKeal Jr Arizona State WR

Bush, Devin Jr Michigan OLB

Edwards, David rJr Wisconsin OT

Fant, Noah Jr Iowa TE

Wilson, Mack Jr Alabama ILB

I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!

Maybe if we decide to cut Bulaga so we can save $ 7 million in cap space, I could see us going with a tackle early, but even then, I don't know if there'll be anyone at pick 12. And even then, I wouldn't want a run blocker at tackle in this day and age.

I've seen Jonah Williams rated as the 5th best talent overall in the draft and I've seem him projected as a late 1st early 2nd rounder though most have him top 10 at least and the #1 tackle. It would appear that if we are interested in an OT at #12 Williams will probably be gone so our best bets will be Greg Little, or David Edwards with Jaawan Taylor being a wildcard. I've seen him all over the map as well.
