How the hell are you NOT ready for the NFC Championship game?

After the Packers' loss to the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game, head coach Matt LaFleur said he felt the team was lacking the fire needed to win such a game. During an appearance on PFT Live, linebacker Za'Darius Smith was asked if he agrees with his coach. Smith said that he thought LaFleur was [more]

If a player is not ready to play, it's on the player. If the whole team is not ready to play THAT'S on the coaching staff in general and more specifically on the HC.
They had 3 games on the Left Coast. MLF should have known what needed to be done by the time they got to the third game.

This reply is just "team speak" pablum. He can't say, "some of our guys just suck and we got our asses kicked." When you begin with the understanding that he has to give an answer to the question, why did you get spanked, he has 3 choices:

Our guys are not as good
We got out-coached
We weren't ready to play
the "we weren't ready" answer does not throw the coach, the G.M, or any specific player under the bus. The answer is politically proper purgative pablum.

Not being ready is 100% on the coach. How can that ever be thought of differently? Educate me because if the three phases of the game come out flat, unprepared, I believe that is what the coaching staff is actually there for. To prepare the players, to get them in opportunities of success.

    I think differently...sort of.

In terms of having the right game plan, making the right adjustments, and game management, those are totally on the coaching staff

Being emotionally ready is totally on the players. For most of these guys, this was the biggest game of their lives....it was THEIR JOB to get ready. If you can't get yourself emotionally ready for a conference championship game, get your sorry ass out of football.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, they just got their asses handed to them by a better team...and as previously professorially proffered, the coaching staff was too stubborn or stupid to adjust, sell out and stop the run.
