As much as diehard Cheeseheads love to make the case for guys like Devin Funchess or Marquez Valdes-Scantling drastically elevating their games and ultimately emerging as valuable weapons behind Davante Adams and Allen Lazard, the Packers receiving corps is essentially the NFL's version of T.J. Maxx — an off-price source of knockoff goods disguised as [...]

Hold up! I don't want someone to be the new Allen Lazard. I want someone to step up and be the next Greg Jennings or Donald Driver or Jordy Nelson or Davante Adams or Randall Cobb. Nothing against Lazard, but shit, aim for the stars and if you get the moon, hell yea.

Reggie Begelton is getting a ton of hype for being a star in CFL... but when is the last time a CFL player came to the NFL and got more than 250 yards in a single season?

I'm not sure, but I think it was 2006 with Joe Horn, who came to the NFL in 1996... and I'm not sure any of the CFL WRs that came to the NFL, this century, have done much.

The guy has a chance to make the roster, with his very good route running and ability to time his jumps and high point the ball (even though he's not the biggest). But his raw talent wasn't that high, more like he was doing all the little details perfectly.

If he's going to be anyone, I think it's going to be Kumerow... does a ton of the small things right to come close to maximizing his potential, just doesn't have enough raw talent to have a huge potential. Also, if guys stay healthy, I don't think there is room for two Kumerow on the 53. I'm thinking Reggie Begelton goes to the PS (which might still be an upgrade from the CFL), and Kumerow and Lazard both spent a season on the PS....

As much as some would like a reincarnation of one or more past players, and provided there is a 2020 NFL season, I'd be pleased if he could just get open and catch footballs. For me players are like fingerprints, no two are identical matches. IMO the best receivers are those that possess above average intelligence and are good football players first. Players that can not only run good routes, but instinctively know their QB is in trouble and move to an open spot on the field. Speed as well as stamina certainly have value, however I'll pick the sneaky bastard every time out.

hopefully he will emerge as a true wr the pack can use, his stats in the cfl are excellent , but this is the nfl, gonna be tough but i think he has a legit shot at 4-5 wr !!

A best case scenario would be Begelton making the team as a 4-5 WR and contribute on ST. Predicting anything more is a pipe dream.

I have seen Begelton play live. He is very good and a very sure hand receiver. He is a huge CFL star WR. Will it translate? Not sure, but I do think he could be a slot WR safety blanket. It may take time and time on the Practice Roster with this messy off-season. Joe Horn is always talked about as the only star CFL receiver to transition, but Rocket Ismail was also a CFL star receiver who also had a pretty good NFL career.

My thoughts on Begelton is he a WR with a great set of hands and finds the opens spot in the field. We could really use a guy like that to move the chains other than Davante.

Still not a lot of CFL WR success in the recent two decades, despite some hype about a couple giving it a shot every year or two.

I like Begelton, I think he could find success in the NFL, I just think while the Packers are lacking top talent, they got a good bit of depth and his main to competition for the last couple of spots are
Kumerow (who like Begelton, does a ton of the small things right, but might not have the top upside)
St. Brown (a ton of upside, but was struggling in preseason games)
Sherperd (quick, smaller)

I think Begelton will need a year on a practice squad, to get more used to NFL CBs. Same with Lazard, Kumerow.

Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?

Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin

Mucky Tundra (30-Jul) : Zero, regarding Ewers, you are correct.

beast (30-Jul) : RIP site 😭
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site will die, I have to restart it.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Quinn stinks. Lot of underthrows. (my guess)

dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
