This one I find very interesting, asking the CBs to read, that might take some time for some to adjust to.

But very smart, I can really see why LaFleur wants this scheme.

As far as this scheme, haven't you watched the coverage videos?

Seems like a versatile cover 2 / cover 3 where you can create some confusion for offenses, as the different packages line up similar but if one has a weakness, the other has a strength there, and you can go back and forth. Plus you can ask the DBs to read and react so no one knows which way they're going at times until they see what the offense does.

Thou, I'm curious how they'll handle the defensive front. As three DT didn't work well for Pettine, and Packers haven't gotten that much better there except Keke has developed. Do they draft a guy? (DTs usually suck as rookies), do they go with two DTs and two Edge? Or hope Keke develops? Or being in a vet?

I can't really tell the difference between Cover 2, Cover 4, Quarters, etc ... so I'm not really sure what to be encouraged or discouraged about. I do think the mentality of the defense is important. I think our previous defenses have been far too much react and respond instead of punching teams in the mouth.

This is just the benefits of man coverage but does have the additional advantage of making it harder for the qb to read, especially with motion. It would be interesting to see the drawbacks. What about a bunch 3 WR set? Seems the HB can take advantage of this as a dump off in the flats.

I would prefer the players learn how to friggin tackle and take the correct angle on pursuit. Pettine had a decent scheme except for the secondary playing way off on short yardage plays.

But every scheme has a weakness, I think the concept of basically doing only 4 main things, where the offense might now be able to tell which of the four pre snap and having them have strength in an area when another has weakness is quite smart, as your making the offense do more work, is smart.

Plus a system where no one, not even the players or coaches know who has who until the routes are run is interesting, and if you mix it up and the offense doesn't know you're in it, makes it tougher.

Also, if I haven't said this already, I just wanted to mention it.

No matter which versions of these we run, we got some improvements that are needed.

No matter what system, we need better CBs.

If we're running lots of Tampa 2, then we need a better coverage LB.

And if running lots of 3 DT fronts, we need better DTs to go with Clark (though hopefully maybe Keke will keep developing).

beast (2-Aug) : I believe it's technically against the CBA rules, but Jerry just calls it a simple unofficial chat... and somehow gets away with it.
beast (2-Aug) : Jerry Jones is infamous for ̶n̶e̶g̶o̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ chatting with players one on one... and going around the agent.
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent

Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I would imagine Dallas will resolve this issue with a truckload of money

Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : database is on new host, eventually website will follow
Mucky Tundra (30-Jul) : Zero, regarding Ewers, you are correct.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Sadly, this might be our life for awhile. I could put it on another host, but seems it was slower, although more stable
beast (30-Jul) : How long will it be down?
beast (30-Jul) : RIP site 😭
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site will die, I have to restart it.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Quinn stinks. Lot of underthrows. (my guess)
beast (30-Jul) : How did Quinn Ewers effect where Golden was drafted?
dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site sure seems to be down more than up
