Peter Bukowski @Peter_Bukowski Interesting nugget from @AlbertBreer who talked to Matt LaFleur and Brian Gutekunst in Green Bay.

Gutey said if they’d known going into the draft they’d take a QB, they would have told 12. Breer adds they wanted a WR or an OT and tried to trade up, but their guys were gone.

And according to Breer, the #Packers assumed Jordan Love would be gone. Clearly they had a very high opinion of him as a player.

It wasn’t a consolation prize, just not how they predicted it would play out.

This is pretty much just retelling what we all knew shortly after draft day. It's good that it's not being completely lost though.

It's been widely thought the Packers wanted WR Justin Jefferson or Brandon Aiyuk, but this is the first I'm hearing about an OT.

I'm not surprised as I really liked two, but I thought and hoped the top 4 would be off the board before Tom Brady's Bucs got to pic and that would have a weakness for Tom... and I was pissed went not only did teams not take the OTs, but let one of the best two OTs in my mind drop to the 4th OT taken and for the Bucs, which had great protection for Brady. But the Bucs had the 4th one by pick #13.

Maybe they thought one of those top 4 would drop, but I highly doubt it...

Only other OT taken before the Packers pick was #18 Austin Jackson from USC, which I felt like the Dolphins reached for... but Jackson has elite LT athleticism he's too reliant on it and way too raw with his technique... it's probably going to take him three or four year to every come close to maximizing his full potential, and that's assuming he's can and really wants to learn the technic. I wonder if they would of been interested in him, or if they're thinking one of the top 4 shockingly drops.

Either way, I feel like the Giants have an idiot at GM... as I felt like of the top 4 OTs available... he clearly didn't pick the best one... depending on how you look at it, I think you can make different cases for different guys being the best one... weather you most interested in pass protection, run blocking, or others factors... I just don't see how he was the #1 of all of them taken. But hey, they are the professionals, and have inside access, not me.

Especially the Packers, as it seems they are always at the end of the round, where there’s a good chance all the best guys will be gone by then.

beast (2-Aug) : I believe it's technically against the CBA rules, but Jerry just calls it a simple unofficial chat... and somehow gets away with it.
beast (2-Aug) : Jerry Jones is infamous for ̶n̶e̶g̶o̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ chatting with players one on one... and going around the agent.
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I would imagine Dallas will resolve this issue with a truckload of money

Mucky Tundra (27-Jul) : @JacobMorley Shoutout to Quinn Ewers for allowing Matthew Golden to be available when Green Bay picked.
