What is lost by so many is this was not only was this Chico's first year, BUT he never really got experience snaps behind Brett in all his time on the bench. Not even when the team was up big or down big.

However, Arron has said.... And if he said it I believe it.... That he was blessed to learn from watching Brett.

We all can thank Brett for that, regardless of the fact Brett really never took him under his wing, Brett just by being H.O.F. Brett is still responsible for much of Aaron's success in his first year as a starter.

That is the way I like to look at it.

Agreed RP. There's so many little intangibles that Aaron seems to emulate on Brett's game, independent of how much Brett has told Aaron.

For example, Aaron tends to be very good at looking off the receiver, using his eyes to divert defensive backs. As mentioned by Kornheiser or one of the other ESPN crew in the MNF season opener, Rodgers had the ability to keep his helmet downfield and use his eyes to scan the field. I'm sure that ability has helped Rodgers become such a great red zone, 3rd down and play action QB.

Also, I've noticed that Rodgers, after making his throw sometimes drops back a bit, the way Favre would throw and then backpedal out of the danger zone from getting hit. Little stuff like that will help develop Rodgers into an excellent QB.

as long as he doesn't start doing the fake throw thing after handing the ball off.

I don't think he's washed up, I think nearly 300 consecutive starts have taken their toll. I've always hated the term washed up because I think it short-changes the amount of wear and tear these guys bodies are subject to.

Mike V has been hyper critical of Ted Thompson and, to some extent, MM. I personally think he's a tool and a hypocrite.

I'm wondering how many audibles Favre called throughout the season, the look on Mangini's face after another fuck up showed a man who was exasperated to say the least. Much like our own coach at times in 07.

I've been with the decision from day one and am happy we have what appears to be a bright future with our new QB. I live in Chicago and I can tell you how bad it sucks for fans to have to sit through 21 different QB's while we've had 1.

Rodgers did that once in the preseason, I think it was in his second year. At that moment, all Packer fans were thinking the same thing: "Let's pretend we never saw that and hope we never see it again." And thankfully we haven't.

By and large a decent article. Even if it was written by Mikey V.
I was for the most part pleased with Aaron's performance this year. Like everyone there were times I thought he could have done better.
I really hoped Brett would have led the Jets into the playoffs. (I wanted the 2nd round draft pick instead of a 3rd).
It is a tough call as to wanting Brett to come back for one last season. I sure hate to have him go out with this being his last year but if he falls off even more next year that would really be tradgic.
Over the years one of the things that frustrated me most about Brett was his over riding desire to be out on the field no matter what. It is going to take him to the HOF but there were times when he was injured and should not have been playing.
For the record, I liked his fake jump pass. At least in his 1st 5 years. it was his way of having a little fun while on the job.

I love that this year when they've been doing the "will he, won't he retire" I can sit back and say It doesn't matter to the Packers anymore.

You want to finish your career here?
Favre: "Definitely. If in two years, say, they want to trade me, I'd probably walk away. Retire."

Now that Arod has gotten the little issue of actually being the "man" for a full season out of the way we can proceed forward with going out and kicking some butt.

Five and eleven, smive and a melon, these boys are going to kick some serious tale next year.

Arod showed this year with ten million eye balls on him he doesn't flinch. Thompson and McCarthy have emphasized recruiting "high character" football players and I believe the benefit from that will come forward in a season following one like they just experienced.

Mucky Tundra (27-Jul) : Golden with two TDs in red zone drills today
