Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs said he stays in touch with former Las Vegas Raiders and Alabama Crimson Tide teammate Henry Ruggs III, and he revealed that Ruggs is still training and holding out hope of an NFL return.

"I still talk to Henry. Henry still calls me. I still help him out. ... We're still connected. I know his whole family. He's from Alabama. He played with me at Bama. His momma and them taught me how to bowl. ... Keeping up with him and hearing him talk, it brings me spirits, because he's always positive," Jacobs said on "The Pivot Podcast."

"He's positive about everything. He's training. They let him train and things like that, so I'm like, 'When you come out, man, I don't know if you will get a chance.' I've been talking to some people for him. They've been saying a couple of teams are willing to give him a chance. I'm like, 'When you get that chance, man, you better not ever, don't look back, and prove to yourself and prove to everybody that one decision don't define you and who you are as a man.'"

Ruggs, the 12th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, was speeding early in the morning of Nov. 2, 2021 with alcohol in his system. Ruggs' Corvette hit a 23-year-old woman, Tina Tintor, who died in the wreck. Ruggs, now 26 years old, pled guilty to one count of driving under the influence resulting in death, a felony, and another count of vehicular manslaughter, a a misdemeanor.

The plea deal resulted in Ruggs going to prison for 36 to 120 months for the first charge and six months for the second charge. He is first eligible for parole on Aug. 5, 2026, per the Nevada Department of Corrections records.

"I instantly get mad," Jacobs said when he found out what happened. "And then when I start finding out more about the story and about how they were supposed to be racing. I'm like, 'Who was he with?' But he was with his family. So I went to his house. I had some words with some people over there, and I'm just like, 'Man, y'all got to understand, like, he the breadwinner of the family. He the one changing all of y'all's lives. Everybody.'

"And then not only that, he's a good kid. He's never been in trouble. I've never seen him do nothing crazy. He was just one of them guys that have a very, very unfortunate situation and something happened, a decision that he made. That's what hurt me the most. Man, he isn't somebody you would look at and be like, 'Bro, you deserved this to happen to you.'"

I've been of the mindset that drinking and driving is inexcusable and should have zero tolerance. I also think our punishments are too forgiving because it only takes one time for someone to lose their life. Generally, my feeling is the 1st offense, you hit them hard and rehabilitate them. If it happens a 2nd time, you lock their ignorant asses up and toss the key.

One of the times I was in jail there was a guy who was on his 6th offense driving while intoxicated. They gave him one year with huber. The douchebag had his girlfriend bringing him beer on his lunch and he got busted and lost huber privileges.

I'm also a proponent of governing vehicles speed to no more than 90mph. I don't feel there is any legitimate reason for a vehicle to be able to do double of what the highest posted speed limit is in the Country.

Back to the topic at hand. I would be inclined to allow the family of Tina Tintor (and her dog, Max) hold the keys to his life. I mean, I guess he's going to be released regardless, but I don't know.

Even though it seems (by what I have heard others say about him) Ruggs is a pretty good human through and through and just made one horrific mistake. I just don't know about getting a 2nd chance. If they release him though, I guess I would like to see him given a 2nd chance because I think if he truly is a good human -- there is a good chance with the money earned via NFL he could do some good.

I seem to struggle with this one heavily. I think about what if it was one of my girls he struck.

Long story short, DON'T FUCKING DRIVE WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ANY FUCKING THING!!!

They got their hangtime, by (according to the police report), clearly exceeding 80s MPH (someone texted before that they were over 110 MPH), and then when the car landed, due to not having enough air in the tires, the car lost control and went straight into a tree, splitting the car, and killing all the people on the right side, while the people on the left walked away with scratches.

She was an extremely sweet girl, and her biggest fault was being attracted to the douchious guys she could find... and her BF driving the car, almost acted like it never happened... and got a slap on the wrist. I think people were tempted to hurt him, but also knew he was such an idiot, that he'd end up in prison one way or another, and he did for selling drugs and beating up woman.

Not that one can help it, but if possible, try to make sure your girls are attracted to respectful people, not douchebags who don't give a crap about others.
