Someone said earlier that "McCarthy should look over his shoulder". I have the utmost faith in MM, and will give him a mulligan for this past season. But with that quote it dawned on me, if for some reason MM is NOT the man for this job and will be run out on a rail with TT, I would be extremely happy for Dom to be even an interim head coach of my beloved Pack.

That said, I stand behind double M! C'mooooonnnnn September...things are gonna heat up in the G Bizzle!

Talking about interim coaches for the Packers if MM were to get fired, wouldn't Winston Moss become our interim coach? After all, he is our assistant head coach.

I have a feeling we are going to fill our roaster with top quality D using our draft picks and FA.

I think people are a little ahead of reality in terms of this "getting rid of McCarthy" talk. He is not on the hot seat yet.

Well, I think the defense will really taste great after we add some Capers.

Well, for what it's worth...this is Michael Lombardi's opinion of where we stand with Capers as our defensive coordinator:

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/2009/01/national-football-post-diner-news-89/

The Packers have enough time and a baseline of talent to make this switch very easily. The 3-4 that Capers runs is not a two-gap 3-4 and uses quickness and movement of the defensive line to make plays. Ryan Pickett would be the perfect nose tackle in this scheme and they have plenty of 3-4 ends to make this work. The nose is never in a two-gap mode, he can swing from A gap to A gap in the same fashion he did when Pickett played in the 4-3. Quickness is the key for this to work and the Packers, once they get healthy, will be able to fit the pieces into the scheme. They will need more outside backers because they will keep Hawk and Barnett inside. But time is on their side and they can find the pieces to make this work. The can also use the Steelers to study and learn from since the Steelers, under Mike Tomlin, incorporated his style of tight man to man into their defense. The Packers will be more versatile in coverage now with Capers but cannot lose their identity in coverage. They are best when they can play man to man, and it will be Capers job to blend the best of the Packers into the best of his scheme. That is the essence of coaching.

If the Packers can improve on offense and make a few moves in the offseason to enhance their defense, theyll be right back in the race. They have a good young team, and as hard as the 08 season was for Packers fans, if they make the right moves, they will be tough.

I have only said it how many times now? I think this team is only a couple moves away from being a real good football team. I think Sanders putting four guys down and everybody in the same place all the time gave opposing teams OC a running start. They knew what they would get.

What has McCarthy said? I don't want them to know what's coming.

Enter Dom Capers and I tell you another thing, it wont' hurt that these guys all come back with a chip on their shoulders either.

Good article - I have a feeling kampman will be playing OLB and they will pick up a nice strong addition to the team as another OLB that can blitz.

I agree with our upfront D - most of our big D push over 300pounds and thats what is needed. People that can stuff the run and let the OLBs blitz or fall back as needed.

exactly as the previous poster talked about - if the opposing team knows what set up we are doing its very easy to plan against us - hence our poor play on D this year.

I'm getting pretty excited about what Dom is going to do with our D. And then with jenkins and Barnett back onto the field. Let alone some new draft/FA guys be nice.

What do you think should be done on the O side of things?

dfosterf (13-Aug) : a lower back injury
dfosterf (13-Aug) : Doubs says he's "fine" after injury scare. Some reported it as z
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : With LVN that is; need to see what happens in the next practice
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : beast, reading about what happened, it sounded like one of those "two guys collide and are moving slow afterwards" type of deals
beast (12-Aug) : I believe Musgrave has been injured every single season since at least a Sophomore in highschool
packerfanoutwest (12-Aug) : Matt LaFleur: “Highly unlikely” Jordan Love plays more this preseason
dfosterf (12-Aug) : Doubs, Savion Williams, LVN, Musgrave all banged up to one degree or another, missing one here I forget

Mucky Tundra (9-Aug) : THE GREEN BAY PACKERS ARE PLAYING FOOTBALL TONIGHT!!!!!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!!!
Zero2Cool (9-Aug) : Woo-hoo
TheKanataThrilla (9-Aug) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
