Adequate closing burst for a safety but marginal closing burst for a corner. Takes too long to transition out of backpedal and has problems defending comeback/hitch routes as a result. Lacks recovery speed.

Loses too much momentum getting in and out of cuts. Going to have problems matching up with slot receivers in man coverage.

Ball Skills 2
Big hands and can snatch the ball out of the air. Above-average leaping ability and flashes the ability to high-point the ball. Shows good sideline awareness and can keep both feet in bounds when trying to make a play on the ball near the sideline.

It's all impressions at that point. He was a top 2-3 corner left from Scouts, Inc. Plus, he's a real good special teams player.

6th Round: Brandon Underwood, CB, Cincinnati
The Packers used their second sixth-round pick (No. 188 overall) on Cincinnati cornerback Brandon Underwood.

Underwood (6-1, 198 pounds) was a first-team all-Big East pick as a free safety and also played some cornerback.

Combine Results:
40 Yard Dash : 4.48 seconds
Bench Press : 16.0 reps
Vertical Jump : 36.5 inches
Broad Jump : 125.0 inches
3 Cone Drill : 7.01 seconds
20 Yard Shuttle : 4.21 seconds

The Packers have one pick left in the seventh round, No. 218.

UPDATE, 3:47 p.m.: A little more on Underwood. He spent three years at Ohio State and then had his scholarship revoked for missing meetings and academic issues. In his only season playing at Cincinnati, he had 60 tackles (3.5 for loss), three interceptions, six pass deflections and two forced fumbles.

UPDATE, 3:51 p.m.: Scout Shaun Herock speaking now ...

* What like about Underwood? "He's a big kid. He's got length, he's got some speed." Length important vs. big receivers.

* More safety or corner? Plays both. Can do both. Want to try him at cornerback first because that's harder to find.

* Comfortable with his Ohio State ouster? Academic ouster. "Since then, he's shown himself a mature individual." Paid part of his own way at Cincy. Opened his eyes.

* Physical? "He uses his length very well as a safety. I don't think that was his trade, to be a killer," but he gets guys down. Will try to use length and speed to lock up receivers outside.

* If no issues at Ohio State, is he an earlier pick? "It's hard to say." Went back through career and asked questions. Ohio State loved kid, thought he was fabulous athlete.

* Did Ohio State say why didn't work through? "I think they did and they just thought it was time to move on." Thought had other kids they could work with.

* See much playing bump and run in college? Played both that and zone. Can get arms stretched out and ride guys and run with them down the field.

Combine video

UPDATE, 4:11 p.m.: Underwood is on the phone.

* What does he consider natural position? "Corner. ... I've been playing corner all my life, and safety was something I just started playing this year." Safety was a bit unnatural at first. By end of season, felt natural at both, "but I'm more groomed for corner."

* Your side of Ohio State story? Didn't get it done academically, that was downfall. Would have loved to stay. Wasn't being student-athlete, just an athlete.

* Pay for part of Cincy? Paid for three-quarters of school, whole first year.

* Get degree? 24 hours short of criminal justice degree.

* Mature from situation? "It really helped me learn to be accountable for my actions. It just helped me to humble myself in all situations."

* Chances of being good NFL player? "I have a great chance. I'm a hard worker, I'm a smart player and I want it, I'm hungry."

* Train in Nashville, and why? Agent had given great reviews on Kurt Hester (sp?), trained there. "He taught me things I already thought I knew."

* Disappointed to go so low? "No sir, it's always a blessing. ... It matters what you do when you get there."

* Lot of options after Ohio State, or was Cincy last resort? Had many options -- UCLA, Louisville, West Virginia. But wanted to be near family, play in front of them.

* How old? 22, about to be 23 in June.

* Consider good bump-and-run player? "Yes sir, with the right coaching, I can be any kind of player. ... I like to put my hands on receivers anyways."

* On his strength: "You can always get bigger, stronger, faster."

* Know what measured his arm length at pro day, and is it an advantage? Don't remember number. Always been told he has monkey arms. Complements vertical.

* Student loans continuing to pay off? "Yes, I do." Had all deferred until after graduation. Took winter and spring quarters off. "My best time ever in the 40 was a 4.36." Expected to run that this spring, but was a little slower.

It seems like ohio state didn't want to keep him after his injury. I'll bet there have been alot of players that were healthy and starting that were in worse situations and stayed in school. JMHO

It seems the lower Packer draft choices are very high on character and attitude. Not just because they say the right things but by doing the right things, hard work, putting team first, etc. and/or turning themselves around.

I like getting these DB's in under Harris and Woodson while we still have them around. Look at Tramon Williams and Nick Collins, who are definitely paying attention to what Woodson in particular has to teach them.

For the record, he did have a best 40 time of 4.38, which is pretty freaking fast.

Do we have a new Return Specialist? Hope so.

For kickoffs maybe. Straight line speed doesn't do much with people bearing down on you on punts. It'll be hard to take the job away from Blackmon for punt returns with two TD's last year.

Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : You can have my 12th Rd for your 2nd round

Martha Careful (2-Aug) : Congratulations Sterling Sharpe. He was terrific and I loved watching him play.
beast (2-Aug) : I believe it's technically against the CBA rules, but Jerry just calls it a simple unofficial chat... and somehow gets away with it.
beast (2-Aug) : Jerry Jones is infamous for ̶n̶e̶g̶o̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ chatting with players one on one... and going around the agent.
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I would imagine Dallas will resolve this issue with a truckload of money
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : Micah pulling a Myles with trade request

Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : database is on new host, eventually website will follow
Mucky Tundra (30-Jul) : Zero, regarding Ewers, you are correct.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Sadly, this might be our life for awhile. I could put it on another host, but seems it was slower, although more stable
beast (30-Jul) : How long will it be down?
beast (30-Jul) : RIP site 😭
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site will die, I have to restart it.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Quinn stinks. Lot of underthrows. (my guess)
beast (30-Jul) : How did Quinn Ewers effect where Golden was drafted?
dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site sure seems to be down more than up
