My wife just called from work. Thunderstorms are running through the area. She said they just got golf-ball sized hail, which is very rare around here.

She is afraid to go look at the car.

I have a bad feeling I am not going to be happy.

I think that's covered under "comprehensive" policy-wise...HOPEFULLY meaning no premium increase...act of nature, rare here, etc.

Crap.

Hopefully not too much damage.. me personally I am much happier with my vehicles when they run like a champ, look respectable but not perfect. Then I care less when I take them into the woods or someone dings in the door.. just adds character. 😉

I kind of lean in Pack93z's direction on this one. My car is a mess, the driver's side headlight cover is busted, etc. But the advantage of it is I don't have to worry when other mishaps befall my vehicle.

As for you, Foster, trade the bitch in. 😉

You obviously missed my "trade-in" stories with respect to my darling wife.

She is a "car-namer".

You and I (and other normal people) can merely trade a car in. My wife likes to trade them in, go sentimental subsequent to the trade, have me go and buy them back...It's a process with her.

It's a 2 year old Lexus with under 9k on it. It was (and hopefully is) in brand new condition, including new car smell.

I drive a 12 year old one. I can smoke in that one.

It has sentimental value to me. I hid behind it in the South lot when the plane hit the Pentagon...dented the right ft quarter-panel slightly and scraped off paint on the trunk---plane parts---you know, from the plane that never hit the pentagon...I never fixed that "hail" damage.

She still hasn't looked...I called.

Fix the car whatever the cost if that's how your wife is. They have paintless-dent removal now. My city has gone through quite a few hail storms in recent memory. My rule of thumb is usually if a car is worth less than $7500, collect on the insurance and use the thing as a beater.

Sorry for your loss.

My wife is home.

I asked her how bad it was. She said there was no damage. I went out to the garage. One ding on the hood. Two on the roof. One on the trunk.

I debated for about five minutes as to if I should even tell her. I did.

So far, she seems unfazed.

Five bucks says that by morning she will want to either have them fixed or trade the car in.

You have to look hard to even see them, but now that she knows they are there...well, the car is obviously ruined. (Another prediction  ) I will give an update if one is warranted.

Before you trade it in.. sell that hail damaged "ruined" car to me.. at the suspected discount that you will get upon trading it in with that type of damage.. :brilsmurf:

Bonus.. it will give me a reason to come out an visit..

You obviously read the story of the last time we "traded in". I would probably wind up selling it to you at a discount, buying it back at a premium, selling it to you at a discount, buying it back at a prem...etc. etc. etc.

She's a good woman, though, after all, she puts up with dfosterf.

A gross understatement if there ever was.
