I'm buying it for the Xbox 360 on the European release date. A shame that that's most likely a week after you guys have it. Sounds dumb, but that really annoys me.

You could always e-bay it and they usually put it online before it's out, so when it's the official day of the release they send it out. You would get it 2/3 days depending how much your willing to pay for shipment depends if you feel like spending an extra 10-15$ for shipment.

I wouldn't mind the shipping, but I would mind it being a NTSC(?) version. We use PAL over here. That's the reason why I can't play APF 2K8 as well. Still, thanks for the tip.

The nice thing about APF 2k8 is that it's still timeless since it uses legend and randomly generated players unlike Madden which you basically have to get every year to get the most current rosters.

Unfortunately EA has extended it's exclusive NFL licenses for awhile again, so you won't be seeing 2k Sports making football games anytime soon, especially since there have been no new versions of APF.

Heck, I'm there are a few original Xbox NFL 2k5 holdouts who just continue to update and patch that version with the latest rosters instead of biting the EA bullet and getting Madden.

Are you a fan of EA's epic Madden series? You -- and gamers like you -- could have been bilked out of almost a billion dollars, according to a Michigan professor of economics.

Jeffrey MacKie-Mason's estimate came in a lengthy declaration filed in support of the plaintiffs in a class-action lawsuit against publisher EA. The suit alleges that the world's second-largest publisher used its exclusive deal with the NFL to eradicate competing football video games -- notably Take Two's NFL 2K series -- and then hiked Madden prices to their current $60.

Industry analysts have been critical of the scale of MacKie-Mason's estimate, and the professor himself admitted in the filing that it was a "simplistic exercise" -- but also notes that under Californian anti-trust law, any damages assessed would be trebled. In other words, a loss in this case could prove expensive for EA.

How likely is that? Your guess is as good as ours, but there's more to this fight than video games. In 2001, a comparable situation arose when the NFL signed a ten-year exclusive deal with Reebok to produce hats carrying team branding. As a result, a competing headwear manufacturer shut out by the deal sued both the NFL and Reebok under anti-trust laws. The NFL won, but the fight's not over: the case could well be on its way to the Supreme Court this year.

If there was a 2k10 I'm sure it would blow EA out the water. Madden doesnt look too bad this year though. They finally added halftime and post game shows and a weekly wrapup, which 2k5 had. I think this years Madden will actually be somewhat new and fun instead of being the same thing year after year.

I disagree I think the madden 10 would be better only because they hadn't made a version suited for ps3 or 360 but in the long run I think 2k sports would get better than ea because 2k seem to have a better understanding of what the consumer wants.

And madden 10 does look much better than recent years not because of the wrap-ups but I'm looking forward to having better player progression/decline. The one thing that has always annoyed me about madden is when you get into franchise mode: 1. it always looks, plays and feels the same. and 2. the players that aren't randomly generated never really progress naturally which is annoying because when i sim or play, project players like jeremy thompson or justin harrell never get better or worse.

My idea for a nfl game would be to scrap the whole rating system, or scrap showing players the rating system. I think it would add a whole new dynamic to running a franchise if you were basing your decisions on things like what a free agent had done in his recent years rather than his speed, strength and awareness rating.
