If the backup has to step in for several weeks though, Green Bay's season is done know matter who they go out and get.

Why does everyone think this?

Cassell took over after Brady went down and finished 11-5? Kurt Warner took over and went to 2 Super Bowls, Big Ben took over for an injured Tommy Maddux and so forth hell a former qb took over for an injured qb in GB and look what happened.

A Backup qb is suppose to be able to take over the team and not lose a step.

Well, yes, there's a small chance that Flynn will step up and be pretty decent. More often than not, though, it doesn't bode well for the team. Especially for one that relies on its passing game. I can imagine that a team like the Ravens doesn't feel an injury as bad as a team like us, or Indianapolis (Not saying NE here, since they just have a dominating supporting cast).

I don't think that we have a stable enough running game or O-line to drag a QB along. It'll totally be on Flynn's shoulders. Not saying that he can't do it, it's just unlikely.

Maybe by week 6 we can trade our waterboy for Favre.

Well the Pats gave up more sacks then us so their o-line sucks and we have a better running back and our wrs are just as good as theirs. I'm not going to worry about it because we can't do anything about it.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Standing in the pocket for about 20 seconds before you find a receiver (While you have Moss and Welker) might have something to do with it. This same O-line has been pretty damn good with Brady, who's nearly totally immobile in the pocket. And yes, we do have a somewhat better running game, but I'd call that nearly a tie.

You're totally missing my point, though.

Yes, I did say that NE has a great supporting cast, but c'mon, do you really want to argue that? Point being is that a player like Brady doesn't just pop up everytime a back up runs onto the field. Usually, you'll get a Ryan Fitzpatrick-like player. Decent, but can't keep the offense moving.

Btw. Still not sold on Cassel. He'll fail in KC and they're going to be kicking themselfs that they traded away Thigpen. But that's slightly off-topic.

good teams have solid backups on their team. I still think it was and is stupid not to have a vet. backup qb instead of 2 2nd yr backups.

they dont need to trade for a qb, they can look at whos getting waived , they also can sit back and let flynn be the backup and pray aa doesnt get hurt !!

I don't know how serious Flynn's injury is; maybe nobody does, but the fact is we can't take a chance on going even 1 game with Brohm as #2.

Better to get someone in for 2 weeks of work in case Flynn can't go.

It's a bad thing that if Brohm gets hurt in the Cardinal game that Rodgers will have to go back in.

It is, but starters start for a reason. To expect a team not miss a beat is way to much.

Indy with Peyton is a SB contender.

With Curtis Painter or Sorgi, they pick top 15, maybe ten in the draft. This is why QB is so important and why they make the most money.

Yes there are exceptions, just not many.

I would never want Jackson as my starter EVER. But, as a backup he could hold us over if Rodgers got hurt for a couple weeks
