Capers has absolutely been an excellent shot in the arm for the Packers defense. My only worry is retaining Capers beyond this season or next.

I know what you mean. Even when he 1st arrived here, when he was asked(by the media) if he would give it another shot at being a HC again he said he wouldn't oppose the opportunity. I hope no one offers the guy a Head Coach position which could be very possible if continues to succeed here, which I think he will.

Expansion team or not, Capers really wasn't that great a HC in Houston. Next to that, the trend seems to be to hire young guys and hope they work out like Tomlin. He doesn't fit that description.

Not saying that that should hold teams back from hiring a HC, but with his resum showing that he's a great DC, but average coach, I can't imagine any team taking a shot at him. Especially not since most teams have some young talent from within their system.

As everyone says, the NFL is a copycat league, and right now everyone is hiring young first time head coaches. That could keep Capers in GB even if he has a few great seasons. We can only hope.

He's 59 years old. Maybe he feels like he's too old to mess around with a head coaching job. fingers crossed!

In agreement with those who think that Capers probably won't get another shot at HC. Sometimes great co-ordinators don't make great Head Coaches and sometimes great Head Coaches make lousy co-ordinators. Not the same job, not requiring the same skillset.

So far, the Capers schemes have been fantastic, and I much enjoy this D. There are still some tests to come, but to this point, I don't have many complaints at all about the D play. Much improved over last year.

The trend hasn't been the age of the new HCs, it's been the money associated to a young unestablished coach. Don't underestimate the power of bottom line in a lot of organizations.

The other side of this is does Capers even want to be a HC again? If we have a string of years of success in GB with Capers, maybe he'll be content to stay long term as DC. I think of Jim Johnson and Lebeau, would have to have a legacy at DC here in GB.

I hope teams realized this. In San Diego it seemed they've ignored Norv Turner's resume and just are sticking with him regardless. Turner is a good example, he's a great Offensive Coordinator, but a so-so Head Coach.
