I guess MM is observing Collins and might make a decision on Wed:

"Well see how (Collins) is on Wednesday and whether hell practice or not, McCarthy said.

If Collins cant go, the Packers starters would be Aaron Rouse, who suffered a neck stinger against the Bengals but should be able to play, and either Jarrett Bush or Derrick Martin.

The clavicle or more commonly known as a collarbone.

Looked pretty painful when Jolly or Jenkins ran right into it.

Not a good thing to have sore when you are trying to tackle and hit somebody with your shoulder.

Was pretty happy with the play of Rouse in the game. Didn't see anything glaring from him, and seemed on par with Bigby at least. Bush didn't do that bad either for being thrown in. Besides the Fleaflicker, which I don't lay much blame. He was pretty much hung out, and was the last line of defense, so he had to play that somewhat soft.

I've broken my clavicle - it sucks and isn't something you can really gut through.

I've never heard of anyone spraining a bone, though - that's a joint injury. I can see bruising and/or other soft tissue damage, but one can't technically sprain a clavicle.

That's what I was thinking, as well. I hope that it is indeed related to the muscles around there and that it isn't too bad, rather than him actually having a problem with his collarbone.

Ouch, definitely don't want to make contact with these.

Sometimes ligament damage can be worse then a clean break - ie take longer to heal.

2 areas of insertion of the clavicle; at the sternum (which I really havnt seen any sprains here) or more commonly at the AC joint which is that nob on top of your shoulder(which rugby players commonly sprain/tear - because they fall). And ya if its a AC joint sprain it can cause alot of problems.

... oh and btw I'm still glad we got rid of smith - not like we dont need a safety now (ok sarcasm off).

The acromio-clavicular joint (AC as Dulak referred to) is very sensitive to strain and sprains. Usually throwers like pitchers or QB's suffer injuries at that spot. I did not see the play but my guess is Collins got his shoulder snapped back and the tendons and ligaments surrounding the AC joint were stretched, thus the sprain.

I was able to play with a broken collar bone in HS...at least punt, but I had a contusion of my left AC joint and it took 3 weeks before I could even put the shoulder pads on comfortably.

Smith was let go because he as not assignment sure and went rogue during plays. Looks great in pre season when there's no one game planning against you, looks stupid in the regular season. Hence, his being cut. (that's not me spouting off, that's what was said about his time in GB)

I understand what was said, I still don't agree with it though. Are they trying to tell me Bush, Bigby, or Rouse don't do the same exact thing? Surely Smith offers more upside then Bush at safety??

I bet all of us would like to have him back there now. Sure, maybe he's not perfect, but he was obviously decent. I would feel pretty secure with him back there. I don't see as much as the coaches, but I will hold steady to the opinion of feeling more comfortable with him back there then Bush, even if just the familiarity with the system.
