The reason I ask is that Kampman really isn't a 3-4 guy. He's a 4-3 end, and he's in a contract year. At his age, probably the last big payday of his career. So he was none too thrilled about switching positions.
Send him somewhere that can use him at his proper position, and maybe we can pick up the next "Ryan Grant," only at the LT position. You KNOW Ted Thompson can find somebody. And he's not giving up draft picks.
This will not change the MM's love affair with the zBS, but at least it might stabilize our Oline.
I've always thought Barnett was overrated. The "Darren Sharper" of LBs. Anyway, we have lots of depth at LB, that's for sure.

Are you sure? Where is this "somebody" at RT and LT then? Surely he's had time by now.

Hysterical blasphemy. I can't even put into logical groupings of words how absurd I think the thought of trading either Barnett or Kampman after only 2 weeks into the season.

And saying that Barnett is the Sharper of LBs? Please elaborate on that one, I'd like to better understand the angle there.

Well they re-evaluate Clifton tomorrow. I was thinking maybe the Bills nabbed Meredith off our PS, because they suspected he was our fallback position. Ergo, maybe Ted Thompson has to make a different move.

The trading deadline is in mid October, iirc. So they'd have to move by then. Let's face it. What if the damage in Cliffy's ankle is worse than thought? We have only one player who can play the position right now. What if he gets injured on Sunday? He already has a sprained foot.
Do you think Dane Randolph is ready to play? (He's rumored to be replacing Meredith on the PS.)
The thing about Kampy is 1, his contract is up after this year anyway, and he might want to go to a 4-3 team anyhow. So this way we could at least get something for him. Probably something considerable, like a decent LT.
As for Barnett, I've always thought he was overrated. Sherman drafted him and just sort of anointed him as a defensive leader. He was always whining everytime someone suggested moving him outside. The dude is a showboat and a prima donna. As we saw with his celebratory antics this week.

You sell Kampman way to low after two games in the 3-4. You don't trade the anchor of your front seven for the last five seasons give or take in the middle of the season. If anything, Green Bay can franchise him in the off-season and move him to a 4-3 team then, but not right now especially since the value will be awful. Maybe they get a 2nd and a project at tackle. They won't get any solution right now in a trade for a player.

Besides the Packers need Kampman's pass rush ability which he's flashed a bit. He hasn't been dominate, but he also hasn't been a big liability in the pass coverage like some thought.

Why move Kampman and create another hole or even tick off the lockerroom? The players certainly wouldn't be to fond of that move.

There isn't an upside to trading Kampman right now. Barnett I could see, but not Kampman. Although moving Barnett for picks is about the only realistic scenario I could see. Nobody is giving a decent LT for a MLB coming off of any injury like he had.
