Butler is the man. Everything he says I agree with.

The '96 Packers are the most underated undercelebrated great teams of all time. The '09 Vikings will be exposed as the paper champions that they are. I think we should worry more about the 09 New Orleans Saints.

butler was the safety in '96 and he got a ring...sharper is a mercenary and he plays only for money...oh yeah...that's why he ended in minnesota and he is without a ring..

'Don't look into this too much, Rock'

'This means nothing, he says this every year'

'Don't get so worked up, he's only motivating his team'

Maybe I should change my name to Rock Nickel to get some credibility around here. :D

Anyway, I sitll think that it's a disrespectfull comment, but that's just me. I didn't know he said that second part right after it, though, so that makes up for it at least a bit.

I've seen this argument going on over at some Vikings forum, as well. I think it's nearly blasphemous at this point. They're 6-1, far from the SB. All he's done that he's never done before is start 6-0.

Apparently, losing a close one to the Vikings in week 4 that year makes the '96 team worse than the Vikings '09 team.

The 1996 Packers won every single home game. Lets see them beat the Bengals, Bears and Giants at home first.

Considering Favre has been saying this (basically) about every team he's been on for the last 10 years (or more?), it's not a big surprise that he said it about the Vikings. He probably told the kids he practices with in the off season that they're-the-most-talented-players-he's-ever-played-with-and-they're-probably-going-to-the-super-bowl too. That being said, if he thinks the '09 Vikings are better than the '96 Packers were, he's either delusional or just plain stupid.

Also, this is my favorite quote from the article:

Santana Dotson: Seeing Brett in purple, when I first saw it I kind of threw up in my mouth.

Preach.

It may or may not be.. while I don't like it, I tend to discount it is all.

Brett hasn't spoken a "convicted" word in some time now.. why give this nonsense any merit?

He is a walking talking blabbering self contradicting quote machine.. hell of a player, but just not worthy of me hanging much weight upon his words.

Sad but true..

BTW.. That credibility is in your applause points yesterday right..

Are we now annointing the Vikings as the new Syperbowl Champions?
The 96 Packers WON the superbowl that year. What have the Vikings won?

Is this article trying to validate Vikings as the next Superbowl champs? Or not...

I think comparing the two teams are unjustified and insulting.

Who the hell is Leroy Bulter?

Ever hear of the Lambeau Leap, Leroy did it first.

And Sharper started the year we lost the SB.

This is a wonderful topic. Only problem is its not even CLOSE. The '96 Packers were one of the best teams in the NFL ever. For starters...do the Vikings even have a secondary? The 96' Packers takeaway numbers were amazing. The vikings...not so much. Please...Favre has said "this is the best team i have been on" every year since 2002.

Nobody has ever heard of Leroy Butler? LMAO! I grew up without a TV and had to listen to the radio behind my parents' backs, and even I know who Leroy Butler is.

You're either really young, really callow, or trying to yank our chains.

I believe he was pointing out a spelling error (and making a failed attempt at humor). If not, any shred of respect I might have had for him as a fan is gone. Love Favre all you want, but if you don't know possibly the best safety ever to don the green and gold you're worth about the same to me as an idiot.

Also, for the record: with all the wonderful and amazing things Favre did for the Pack over the years, Reggie White is the guy who really turned things around.
