People that come into work even when they're sick are ridiculous. If you're sick, stay home -- I don't need to contract whatever it is you have and bring it home to my family. In full disclosure, I used to be one of those people until a co-worker told me the same thing I mentioned above. Made a lot of sense.

That's my policy. When sick, just stay home. Sure, in cases of sniffles and what not, it's probably ridiculous to stay home. But if you're legitimately ill with the flu the correct call is to stay home, macho attitude or not. Perhaps flu season wouldn't be so bad if more people heeded this advice.

So relating this back to penalties...um..huh?

Certain penalties I can't stand. The blocks in the back, the weekly Clifton false starts. Other penalties are OK.

Clifton got beat last game and held. That was a great penalty. First it kept Rodgers from getting killed again. Second even though we ended up in 1st and 20, that is much better than 2nd and 15-20 or 2nd and Flynn.

I still don't agree with the view that penalties is all coaching. IMO is has very little at this stage. These guys have been playing for the majority of their lives. If they don't have it figured out now, McCarthy getting on them isn't going to change it for the most part.

Benching players isn't going to change them. It is only going to make the team worse. Those who commit to many need to be replaced if possible. But that requires somebody better. Sometimes the greater skill outweighs the hit from penalty.

What needs to happen is penalty history needs to be looked at for FA and the Draft. And taken into account before aquiring a player. We need more Tauschers and less Cliftons.

MM can say that they are going to be cleaned up, or corrected, but they are not. and they will not be in the future as long as he is there. Look at the track record. It is not getting any better. and shows no signs of getting better. There is absolutely no accountability on this team. None. I don't have to be in the locker room to see that. All you have to do is look at JUST one example. Chad Clifton. If there were accountability his ass would be pulled from the game.

I was very proud of my attendance record, but it was because I rarely got sick. When I did, it was just a little cough and I kept to myself. A few of my jobs were in a factory so not much worry about spreading germs there. When I worked for Dish Network, I was sent him a time or two because of being sick. I was able to make it half the day though.

At my current job, they tell you to stay home so not everyone in the office gets sick with you. This didn't sit too well with me, but I have a laptop and I simply work from home on the rare occasion I have to.

i can see where you are coming from, with people staying home sick but what about those that come in sick, they cant function in the first place,so why are you here so i guess you could say the same for the penalties, they are the same one but feel the announcers had it right too,you have to let them play football, qbs and receivers know they will get that call most of the time.

I think it's obvious that IronMan is complaining about people who abuse the sick-day benefit, who call in sick for minor reasons or no reason at all. I think we'd all agree that if you're sick and you're contagious, stay home.

Bingo. If you are sick you are sick. But 20+ times a year? Bullshit. Having a "family emergency" every pay day? Hmmmm. Another thing that pisses me off, is when someone calls in because they have "car trouble", then you call them back and offer them a ride to work, only for them to then tell you, "Oh yeah, I'm sick too". I actually fired a girl for that once.

I've noticed the younger generation is a little more free willed with using their sick leave. I perceive them to view it more as a benefit than actually using it conservatively for the rainy day. I've also noticed that people nearing their retirement are a little more liberal with taking their sick leave, just to burn it up. Who wants a percentage of it when you can get full value by using it.

What should be done is not to differentiate between sick days and annual days. Call them all personal days and then it would be the company's perrogative for how many per year.

What people also don't think about , is....what if you have to have surgery, or get injured, and cannot work for a month or more? Well, if you've pissed all of your sick time away on bullshit, guess what...you're fucked.
