The biggest danger on the roads is difference of speeds.

actually, the biggest danger on roads is the fact that they let other people on them. if I had the road to myself, and perhaps the occasional brunette in a convertible and shorts (in summer), things would be perfect. 🙂
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I got a buddy who's a trucker and he'd probably give you a +1 for that statement.

He HATES car drivers. They're idiots. He wishes people would simply give him space. Yes, trucks cannot stop on a dime nor can they maneuver like cars can. Yet some car drivers think they can cut them off. When a car gets killed by a trucker, I'd put my odds 10 to 1 that it was the car driver's fault.

Car drivers also don't realize just how big blind spots are for trucks. He told me when passing a truck, pass the truck. Don't stay on its side. Also, give them plenty of space before and after passing. Don't tailgate. And whatever you do, don't cut them off or go back in their lane then slow down.

Top two hazards: Some people going too slow, some people going too fast (difference in speeds), and changing lanes, especially without a turn signal. All it takes is one asshole who doesn't pay attention and doesn't check her (yes, her) blindspot to cream you.

Mach 2 on the autobahn is nice, unfortunately the dutch motorhome drivers entered the german highways and are blocking the germans on the left lane

Seriously, Germany is the only european country without a general speed limit and I'm glad about it. I don't see any reason for a speed limit once there's not too much traffic on the highway. I love to drive 135 mph (maximum speed of my car, damn it) whenever the highway is free. Slow on the right/middle, fast on the left --> no problem.

For those who care about the dangerousness of driving fast:
USA (with speed limit): 12,25 traffic deaths per 100,000 population
Germany (without speed limit): 4,8 traffic deaths per 100,000 population

The entire problem is assholes in the left lane, and people deciding to take 3 minutes to pass someone. If you don't have a reason to be in the left lane, be in the right lane. Very simple rule, makes everyone's life easier. It irritates me to no end when you have 4 lanes going in each direction, and the two right lanes are virtually empty, with the two left lanes crammed.
