+1 to Formo for having the balls to say that. And I agree.

Funny, had a similar experience to Non. My wife is horrible with finances so I became a finance Nazi and completely took over both mine and her paychecks. I give her an allowance with her own money and also allow her to buy investments. She's actually quite good at mutual funds and stocks, but give her credit cards and you'd have a serious problem.

I don't believe in equality one bit. Equality is one of those stupid politically correct words. You do what you're good at. My wife is way better than me at a lot of things and I'm better at her with finances and cooking. So I do the cooking and the finances and she pretty much does everything else.

I strongly believe in roles. You play to your strengths. You have each the person do what they're good at. If your spouse is good at nothing, you picked a bad spouse.

Now before anyone calls me sexist when it comes to finances, I have a female friend who should have been the finances Nazi. Her stupid husband blew $1.2 million gambling with tech stocks and now it's worth $200k and they're nearing retirement. $200k in San Francisco for retirement doesn't go very far, especially considering that during the dot com, they were making more than that every year.

He convinced her that he knew what was up and she allowed him to take her retirement fund as well as his own. It should have been the other way around with her managing both their finances and her giving him an allowance because he's a financial retard.

We put all our money in one account. We are still figuring out the best way to work our finances because my wife is stubborn and refuses to give me Nazi power over our money. We will be having an account for all bills/rent/debt, and then a personal account which will be our 'allowance'. Like I said, though, we are still figuring that part out, along with a few other issues.. lol I know this much, though.. Once we throw this financial monkey off our back, our relationship will be SOOO much nicer!

Oh, and Zombie, I get pretty piturbed with materialistic people. Mainly because they don't know they are materialistic. For example.. My wife has a close childhood friend. This girl is your typical 'material girl'. She's openly admitted being materialistic, and has stated prior to getting hitched that she would turn down a rock smaller than 1 karrot. I have no problem with her, because she knows and admits it. My mother-in-law on the other hand thinks that everything anyone does should revolve around the dollar bill. I'm not the 'favorite' son-in-law because I don't have any tangible proof of education (IMO, the best education is real world education) and I don't have a job with any sort of high status. Also, I just 'LOVE' that people think having a lot of money is bad/sinful/greedy. It's that mentality right there that MAKES you materialistic.

Formo - Me too. My wife and I bought our wedding rings at K-Mart for $20 for both of them. Both of ours snapped years ago and we since upgraded our wedding rings to $20 rings (each) at some teenager rock and roll store at the mall, forgot what it's called.

I've never understood a lot of things, like 2400 sq ft houses on a lot the size of a postage stamp. Very popular here in California, and nowadays, you see a lot of those homes foreclosing.

Here, it's all about keeping up with the Jones'es. I don't get it. You see it in the clothes, in the vehicles, the wedding rings, etc. Then they whine that they can't make their payments. Wonder why.

I like money, don't get me wrong. I like it though so I could get some time off and go somewhere with it, not to buy crap we don't need.

I think the happiest people are the ones who understand that time and health are the most important things you got, and a good family is one that does stuff together.

Good luck with wrestling control for the finances. Everyone's afraid of the word "roles" nowadays as we've been brainwashed with the equality word. I hope you can convince her that you'd be better off if you controlled the finances.

Sounds like a 'Hot Topic' or something. That's where I bought our promise rings for her. It was 'The Crow' matching rings that said "Love is Forever" on them. I believe I paid $20 for the set.

As long as the people realize that when they die, their stuff still stays on Earth.. I don't care what or how much they have. But yeah, you are right.. It's microwave mentality coupled with keeping up with the Jones's. I know the feeling. My best friend and my wife's best friend from our childhoods both are married (to separate people), both bought houses.. My best friend has got a little girl now. It's funny, we look at them, and both couples are sooo tied up with trying to 'live the dream' that they forget that they are mountains in debt and can't just pick up and go to any sort of exotic locations. It's kinda sad.

Oh, I'm 100% sure she know that we'd be better off with me handling the money.. She even knows that it would be better for the relationship too, as she would NEVER have to stress about the bills (happy wife is a happy life). But, she's stubborn and is too afraid to let go. Which is fine by me. Eventually she'll learn to let it go if she wants to move out of this cave of an apartment. 🙂

beast (30-Jul) : RIP site 😭
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site will die, I have to restart it.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Quinn stinks. Lot of underthrows. (my guess)

dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
